I'm male, my height 1.57. Age: 40

I'm thinking of having bone lengthening with the LON method.
I'm thinking of only one surgery. Do not think of second surgery.

But I'm confused. 

Both bone of my leg are the same size. (femur and tibia)

Tibia:
+ It looks longer than femur. (aesthetic image from the outside)
+ Pain less than femur.
- Less lengthening than femur. (- 2-3cm)
- Bone recovery and healing longer than the femur.

Femur:
+ More than Tibia lengthening (+ 2-3cm)
+ Bone recovery and healing faster than tibia.
- It's more painful than tibia.
- Very long femur, poor aesthetic.


What bone do you think? femur or tibia ?


Which is healthier in the long term? (walking, running, activity etc.)

With stryde for femurs recovery is usually the best . Since you're 5 2' roughly , I'd suggest you get stryde femurs done. At 5 5' you'll see a marked difference and you'll be taller than the majority of women. This will do wonders for your self esteem as a male.

If you're worried about proportions post some mock-ups in the proprortions  section of the forum. It's really a case by case basis sort of thing.

Femurs are definitely the healthiest option. If you can't afford stryde then look into precise 2.

However if you want to do tibias then externals are technically the safest , however ,the recovery time is extremely long and you'll be wearing the frames until bone consolidation has occurred.

For internal tibias such as LON the recovery time is significantly shorter but there is a high chance of permanent knee pain according to data collected. Permanent knee pain occurs in roughly 80% of cases. I don't think the knee pain is severe though.

The nice thing about doing tibias is that you don't really need to worry about proportions . Adding 5cm to the tibias won't majorly affect your proportions.

There are too many variables, mainly depends on your genetics, maybe you are a freak and get away with 5 months or if you are unlucky a year

Turkish doctors are doing 8cm from the tibia in Turkey, but I do not know how much health.

I think the tibia at most 6 maybe 7 cm.

I just want to know which region is healthier, tibia or femur... (In the long term)
