Repeatedly entering a country for follow-ups

I think most people spend 3 months near the doctor, finish the process and then go back home.

But how would it work if you went back to your home country and flew back periodically for follow-ups?

I live in the EU and am thinking of doing this in the US. I might have to make 7-8 visits to the US for this in a span of 3 months. That would look suspicious to the immigration officers and I might get questioned. I can't say I'm just visiting for pleasure 8 times in a row in a span of 3 months. Does it become necessary to explain the surgery and why I have to visit so often?
