Please don’t do LON on Tibia (my biggest regret)
« on: May 05, 2024, 04:33:33 AM »

Hey everyone,

I'm sharing my recent experience here, despite the challenges. I'm frustrated with the limb lengthening industry because there's a lack of genuine, honest experiences. I was one of the individuals who received media coverage deal at a very known limb lengthening center. However, these videos only capture a small fraction of the reality. They often use filters to hide scars and only film when you're smiling, even if you're in significant pain. The truth is, these videos represent only about 5-7% of the time, usually when strong painkillers are involved. Many patients don't share their real experiences online due to social reasons and a desire for privacy. Those who do share their experience with their face on often have incentives, such as discounts or financial compensation. This lack of transparency is frustrating, but I'm  :'(sharing my honest experience here anonymously because I believe it's important to shed light on the reality behind the scenes. So i’m sharing my story because I don't want others to go through what I've been experiencing, especially because of the misleading videos on social media from limb lengthening accounts.

I chose LON tibia for two reasons:
1) it's more popular and seemed less risky
2) it was cheaper
But now I regret it  :'(

The surgery went fine, it’s painful but not crazy I had more painful surgeries. But the pain and discomfort afterward have been relentless. If you want to understand, imagine wearing shoes two sizes too small for weeks on and never get a chance to take them off. It's that kind of discomfort.
Dispute that the pain and discomfort is consistent and never ever stoped and that drive me nuts. Everyone at the center I am in, including myself are facing a big challenge with sleeping, the sleeping hours range between 5-7 hours inconsistent and divided into small number of naps. The pain of the lengenthing is painful sometime it can be tolerant and sometime even a strong painkiller won’t take the pain away. The surgery specially LoN tibia will require not only a desire and strong will but a good mental and emotional strength and even with that you can lose it so I suggest you enrol with a therapy already before the surgery date.

If anyone has questions about LON tibia, feel free to ask. Let's raise awareness and help each other out.

Thanks for sharing your story and point of view. I always hear that monorail LON on the tibia is more painful and some centers prefer the LATN for a better experience. I hope you smooth journey and keep sharing with us your overview and pics.

we didnt understand what exactly is it that you regret?

did you have any complications?
non union?
infections?
butcher buldu had you lengthen 1mm per day on the tibia for how many centimeters?

everyone here knows its difficult to sleep with LON so what exactly is the thesis of your post ?

I regret doing LON instead I wish I did the precies method.
I am still in the process so no complication so far (as mentioned the doctor seem very good) and so as the clinic, it’s the lengenthing pain and the discomfort that comes with the external fixator.

Yes we are doing 1ml per day and still in the process.

It’s not about the sleeping only it’s the whole experience of setting, standing, showering etc (yes everyone knows so am I) but I wish if someone told me that the discomfort and the pain of the external faxator attached to your body feels like this or that so I tried to do my best in sharing my experience.
In the end of the day, it’s a feeling that everyone have if you say (this surgery is difficult or hard or painful), yes but describe the type and that’s what I couldn’t find in any social media post. This feeling of your soul wishing to be in another body just because you can no longer breath with these external steal faxator. Let alone the sleeping part. Hope that helps ?

eh

literally everyone says the process is hard and sucks and many of us have regretted it deeply once the frames were installed but then again think about how much it sucks to be short and that would motivate you to endure !

when you're done with the lengthening and start recovery your brain suppresses all the sleepless nights staring at the ceiling of your room contemplating your self inflicted disability and asking the dark void will you ever walk again normally

no two ways around it gotta suck it up and endure buddy boyo

better 2 months of pain and insomnia than a lifetime of being a short man and being seen as a joke and less of a man

It's not uncommon to have only a few hrs of sleep in the first month or so. It's actually posted a lot here. That's why the painkillers are there, and why you eventually get weened off it as time goes on so you can get used to it to some good extent.

Ideal goal: (178cm~180cm) 5'10~5'11 with two separate bilateral(femur+tibia) lengthening
Normal goal: (176cm) 5'9 with femur lengthening
Minimum goal: (173.5cm) 5'8 with femur/tibia lengthening

Plan in 2025~2026 when Precice Max comes and has some good outcomes.
