Does anyone here practice? What's you opinion about those who say that will make you shorter? Is it a stupid statement? lol

once you become adult and your bone fused, weight lifting will not decrease or affect your height, maybe a heavy one if done mistakenly will affect your posture and decrease a few mm but its easy to bring them back, enjoy your Gym, Good luck

I'm not so sure, maybe it can compress your spine. Look at Schwarzenegger, he lost a lot of height doing professional bodybuilding and action movies.

Well yeah, over years he lost 2 inches from wear and tear on his spine. I think the maximum men can lose from 30-80 years old is about 2 inches.

Take glucosamine and do yoga/pilates I guess, if you lift a lot of heavy weights.

The average person wont lose much. The average guy in the gym does not squat weights in the 400+lb range or curl exceptionally large weights.

The biggest danger to people's spines in gyms is the deadlift which is often performed exceptionally poorly.

It is possible through wear and tear to lose a good 1-3" off your height if you do not take care of your spine and your joints. Schwarzenegger was 6-1.5" in his prime he's now about 5-11. Ive seen pictures of Arnold using some really dodgy form in his training which no doubt caught up with him
