Hello guys.
Imagine having 2 broke femurs without lengthening. (Fracture) and a nail is implanted.
When after surgery are you allowed to weightbear and walk normal without having to be careful?
PS: Im not talking about lengthening, just 2 broken femurs.

Normally when there is a bone bridge strong enough between the 2 bone parts.

So how long does it take. Just after inserting a normal trauma nail? 2 months or longer?

No need for a strong bridge for LON method. There are many patients walking without aid straight after the surgery, a few days post op. But for precise there would have to be that bridge like you say.

Depends on the method used.
6 week no walking .
6 to 12 week partial weight bearing with walker or elbow crutches.
12 week to 16 week walking without any support.
after 16 week you are functionally independent.
