Title: 8cm vs 6.5cm vs 5cm femurs
Post by: precice strider on August 08, 2020, 07:18:44 AM
I'm primarily concerned with my leg to body ratio as I already have proportionally longer legs.
I don't mind having long legs, but if they're abnormally long that's a problem.

The first two are what I usually wear in public. Notice there are 2-4 inches of overlap between my shirt and pants.
The third is me trying to wear the same thing as the Paley orange shirt guy (but with a slightly different orange shirt).
The last is me wearing a suit and tucked shirt. This is important because this is what I would look like at an interview, wedding, other formal event etc.

Where should I stop, 5cm, 6.5cm, or 8cm?
I know it's a lot of mockups, but if you want you can just look at the last ones, the suit and Paley orange shirt.

And yes, the dog in the background is the real Hobbes the Dog that I named this account after.

Take the pictures from eye level, I used to do a similar mistake and it makes your legs look longer than they actually appear. As for the pictures, 5-8 doesn't look much different, not abnormal but not good and arms look short except in the shorts pictures which do look good.

Keep in mind if you lengthen 8cm you ain’t going to get the full 8cm because of angle of bone. Ie 10% slant will mean you only grow 7.2cm

Will there ever be a situation where as a male it wouldn't be socially acceptable to not wear a tucked-in shirt with nothing covering it? For example, for the suit pic I intentionally didn't fasten the bottom button, but if I got 8cm I probably would. I usually don't tuck my shirt in so I'm sure 8cm would look fine most of the time, but what about semi-formal events that don't warrant a suit but usually a dress shirt that would be tucked in? Then it might be obvious

Lol? Seriously don't even waste your time thinking about it lmao. I have a friend who is exactly 180cm which isn't even a tall height, I just checked his WhatsApp profile picture where he was wearing a white shirt tucked in. His legs are looking so hot, his torso looks short but it's definetely not a problem. He looks very well aesthetically. You don't need to worry about that, fervently.

Also, are you Asian? Because your arms are really short. I'm not so much taller than you but my arms can easily pull off 180cm (which makes me grateful at least), I can tryhard on 185 with sligtly short arms, I guess i'm lucky. But I'm not lucky at sitting height though, Ik it doesn't really matter but still. Only 90 cms..

I am, but I think my arms only look short because my legs are long.
I just measured my wingspan and it is 166 cm.

bro you are trippin    ;D
the photos look great, with the longer legs it gives you model proportions
you only need to worry about arm length in relation to your torso ( those are paleys words not mine)
as long as you can fit your hand in your pockets youll be fine

I hope you understand why I am taking proportions very seriously. It's a permanent body modification.

Here are suit mockups for 6.5cm and 8cm at eye level.

What do you think?

Doesn't look like eye level to me. Middle of picture should be your head

I’ve always seen pic at hip level guys, it’s done so to balance upper and lower body

UPDATE: I compared my pics to the LBR mockups.

It appears to me that 6.5cm would put me at +1~2 SD and 8cm would put me at a solid 2+. So most likely I will do 6.5cm.
However, I heard that at 17 most of my growth is in the spine. So it might get better.

It's safe to say you're done growing

I wouldn't say "safe to say", at a bone age of 17 it turns out actually did grow a little over 1 cm in the past year so (got measured 5ft 5.5-75 now I'm closer to 5ft 6.5) maybe OP can squeeze in a tiny amount but yeah it's going to be negligible

Legs look very long even in those, I'd say just do 2 inches and leave it at that if your torso doesn't grow anymore. The 8 doesn't look tragic but it's really hard to imagine those proportions on anyone not tall.

What kind of a measurement did you use as your Leg length, inseam, or whatever?
Can you please enligthen me about how exactly you measured your legs? From your ankle to your hip? Idk.

Best Regards

Not sure if 5cm would be enough, even 6.5cm would put me at a weak 5'7 assuming no growth.

What's your sitting height? Your torso seems too short for the 8cm lengthening. And imo your thick legs specifically the femurs kinda ruins your envisioned tall stature in terms of aesthetic appeal ironically. Do you workout your legs a lot? If so then I'd suggest stop it and let your leg muscles atrophy to their natural shape and size and then make a mock.

Is a .6 LBR abnormal for a male?
