External tibias - stay at home during lengthening
« on: February 07, 2017, 10:52:30 PM »

I just learned from one of the top external tibia CLL surgeons that:

- you can go home 3 days after the surgery and only come for checks. First check is 45 days after the surgery. So no need to even stay in the same country. You can manage by yourself with turning, changing bandages etc

- walking is the best physio and nothing else is needed

Doesn't this little supervision from doc and post op care sound risky?

Stay near, is safer.

I'd advise you stay near

External frames tend to make the bone turn in odd angles due to muscle resistance and you need to be there to get it properly adjusted. I'd advise you stay

They are an utter nightmare to travel in as well

Sounds like Catagni's way of thinking. To be honest, I would listen to that doc since he is a worldside authority with anything that has to do with external tibias.

If your doctor allowed you to stay far during lengthening then he's not legit nor expert, especially with tibia. stay near and safe, good luck
