Title: I think 5+5 quads is overrated
Post by: a on August 31, 2020, 02:56:44 PM
I think we should not lengthen our tibias as much amount as the femurs.
If you do 5+5, (if you are an average proportioned human being without insanely short tibias) you'll basically reduce your tibia/femur ratio for no reason.

I think the best would be 6+4. Or, 7+4, or 7+5.
If I had the chance, I'd definetely do 7+4 or 7+5.

What do you guys think about this?

just to nitpick, technically you would be RAISING the T:F ratio if you were do do more on tibias not reduce

i think the best would be (IF you were do undergo two segment lengthening)
have your segments measured via xray an consult with your doc. that way you can reach optimal height while maintaining a biomechanically advantageous ratio

lets say for example your tibs are 32 cm and your femurs are 44cm thats a ratio of 0.75
so lets say we want a ratio of 0.8 then we could add 5cm to tibs  to get 37cm and to achieve 0.8 we add 2.5cm we roughly get 0.8

now lets say we have tibs that are 36cm and femurs 45 thats a ratio of 0.8
in order to maintain that ratio (and adding maximal height, accounting for limits on tibs and the8cm cap) then the max we can add would be 5cm on tibs and 6.25 on femurs
giving us 41cm on tibs and 51.25 femurs , once again a 0.8 ratio

tldr it all depends on your starting limb lengths

Yes exactly. But people tend to have average tibia length tbh. I've never seen such a short tibia person. They are rare.

Overall, the most hideable choice is 5cm on femurs I guess.

Edit: What I meant with "reduce" was not about "quantity" it was related to "quality" but yeah, It was a wrong statement.

perhaps because you live in turkey, given that the majority of the population is turkish
but in the west we are a bit more diverse and populations such as asians have shortertibs
