Has anyone done Option 5 with Dr. Paley? Is it too much to go through?
-
can you elaborate on what option 5 is
-
Option five permits up to 16cm by having:
1) Surgery on both femurs and tibias, with a goal of 4cm in each segment
2) The following year, both bones are broken again with another goal of 4cm in each segment
Honestly, the incremental ROIs of most of these options are questionable. You can get pretty close with two spaced out surgeries (femurs one year, tibias the next) with a lot less pain and less money.

4 cm per segment is 8 cm total, not 16.

Option 5 involves having two lengthening phases. Phase 1 you do 4 cm per segment, 8 cm total. You then come back one year later, rebreak your femur and tibia, and repeat another lengthening amount of 4 cm, 8 cm total for phase 2.
The cumulative total of phase 1 and 2 is 16 cm.

Owwww I see, sounds hellish though.

If you just do Femurs followed by Tibias, you can potentially get up to 13cm (8cm + 5cm) and maybe more. MyEvolution is actually going beyond 5cm on the tibias with Paley, but this requires immense flexibility.
