bigger risk with LON or with full External Lengthenin
« on: January 28, 2020, 04:48:36 AM »

Are you of the opinion that fully external lengthening is better in terms of comlications than LON method? (femur aswell as tibias).

External: - longer time in external device

It didnt post my whole text somehow, so i repost now.

External: - longer time in the device -> more infections
+ can fix bow bones more easy

LON Method: - loss of bone narrow (is that even bad?)
                    - harder to fix bow bones
                    - more risks liek fat ebolism (which is deadly!)
                     - second surgery is required
                      - possible permanent knee pain
+ less time in frame and less time for consolidation because of the IM nail supporting the leg

Bone marrow* regenerates. Yes, it would be very very bad to permanently lose the bone marrow since it’s the place where blood cells are produced.

True, but some doctors aren't very good, so the nail in there acually helps keep the leg from getting too crooked. :o
