One more question:so can people estimate the amount of time from when he can walk without support to when the nail be removed?
For example: 5cm external tibias

There is no nail with pure external, if you're doing LON, LATN my understanding is there is no rush to remove the nail upon completion of lengthening as you can live a normal life with the nail inside your leg. Some people decide to keep it in permanently

If you're asking for pure external, then the time you can walk and frame removal are two separate things. Being able to walk is dependent on muscle recovery while frame removal is dependent on bone recovery. The more you walk according to many doctors will speed up bone growth
