My first new topic so many thanks for any advice.
I will have access to 150k soon.
I am able to travel anywhere and stay as long as needed.
I am in the US but not local to any of the Stryde doctors, so I'll have to spend to settle in a new location for 90 days+
PT for 90 days would also be factored in.
Goal would be 6-7cm lengthening (femurs).
Hopefully I am correct to assume that if money wasn't an issue everyone would prefer Stryde.
So, even though I'll have the funds for all the choices, I'd still prefer not to spend more if all things relatively equal.
I've been reading lots and I also assume most would choose Paley. Im also under the impression most wouldn't choose Rozbruch given the highest cost but comparatively speaking not being above and beyond the other choices.
So, I came to the conclusion that it's sort of between Paley vs. Dr. Donghoon Lee/Dr. Debiparshad/Dr. Kohne/Dr. Giotikas. If all or any of the latter 4 docs are just as competent and results just as good, I suppose why not save the money? The one that jumps out is Dr. Giotikas, where cost is half with physical therapy included.
But, if most of you feel Dr. Paley is the best route if funds were available, then I shall settle on that.
Any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you all.
Here's the info on Stryde pricing from Leggs from another topic:
"
Dr. Rozbruch: $125,000 (Femur or Tibia)
*Physical Therapy Not Included
Dr. Paley: $97,500 (Femur) $109,000 (Tibia)

*Physical Therapy Not Included
Dr. Donghoon Lee: $78,700 (Femur) $81,400 (Tibia)
*All Inclusive 90 Day Hospital Stay
*STRYDE Coming Soon
Dr. Debiparshad: $75,000 (Femur) $79,000 (Tibia)

Hey OGfivesevener
I'm looking to do Stryde or Precise 2.2 with Dr. Giotikas, maybe this summer 2019.
His website looks good, http://www.athensbjr.com, but are worry about being scam.
Where are you planning to have it done? Do you want to meet up and do it together for support?
I'm also in the US in the bay area.

I have the time now to move forward but, man, I'm trying to force myself to be patient and not be hasty in my decision. One humongous decision!
Things keep changing but so far Dr. Paley is at the top of the list. I am still curious about Dr. Giotikas. I don't want to base such a big decision on price. But, as I said, if the quality is on par then why not.
I did try to contact the Paley Institute with some questions but no reply in about a week. Maybe that's a good thing.
-
Probably Rozbruch. (As of April, 2019.)
-
I'm either going to go with Dr. Mahboubian since I'm Local (30 minute drive from his office) or Dr. Giotikas as well if I feel confident and good about him after my online consultation

Alright man, please update if you don't mind after the consultation and share your thought process on who you decided on and why. I'm send you a PM.
-
I am likely going with Dr. Paley and the timeline is roughly July-August.
If anyone plans to get this done around the same time hopefully we can hook up for support.
-
Got an email reply from Dr. P india. He says stryde would be available by August and would be 30-40% expensive than Precice nail.
-
Just received updated pricing from Dr. Mahboubian's office. Once again I'm not sure which doctor to go with now.
I do agree his marketing is a bit cringe worthy.
I've also tried contacting Dr. Paley's office 3 different ways with no response over the span of about a week. Bit strange.
I received a reply from Dr. Mahboubian's office within 15 minutes. That could be interpreted as good or bad

Hi OGfivesevener
I am a former Paley patient. As you know, he is considered as the top doctor in CLL and he worked together to invent internal nails (Precice and Stryde). This surgery is really tough. You will have moments of regrets and blaming doctors or all kind of things. Still overall I think Paley is a good choice. Dr. R and Dr. M could be good choices but they are more expensive than Paley. Dr. Lee still does not provide Stryde yet which is coming at the end of this year, although he is I think a good doctor. And I don't have clues about the rest of docs.
Good luck!

Thanks for the input Ghost. I was pretty set on Dr Paley but then I decided to get pricing info from Dr. M and his office is telling me its a little over 70k for Stryde femurs. I was quite surprised so doing more research now.

Dr.M's price is quite different from the list. In that case, he may be not a bad choice.
Good luck!

Yup the new Mahboubian Prices put icing on the cake for me. though Giotikas seems good as well to me (after a quick 15 minute consultation) because It's cheaper and includes PT, the medicine through out the lengthening process, and walking aids, which Mahboubian does not include.
-
Yep, regarding the price, Giotikas is the best choice. However, I just do not really know him enough.
-
My thoughts are even if I had confidence in both Dr. M and Dr. Giotikas equally, I don't necessarily feel I have confidence in the logistics of traveling to Greece for such a procedure. I'll also be alone. More unknowns to figure out.
With the price difference being less now, justifying the foreign travel isn't really on the table anymore.
This is assuming I'll come to the conclusion of being totally comfortable with Dr. Mahboubian. If that happens I'll be bugging the heck out of infullstryde!

It's good we have options and everyone has their reasons for which doc they decide on. I've decided on Dr. Paley for bilateral femur with Stryde.
Consult in June and Surgery in July pending payment.
Not much of a diary kind of guy but I'll gladly answer questions on the entire process once things get going.
Thank you all for the valuable information so far.
BTW, I'm starting at 5'7. Late 30s. Seems my wingspan is roughly 5"10.

Dude. Same height, same wingspan, also gonna do femurs with Paley after I save a few years. Keep in touch with me during the process!!

If I had only 150k, I would go to Giotikas or Parihar and save the rest of the money (maybe another lengthening in another segment).
