Title: Stomach injections?
Post by: Puertoricanwasp123 on January 27, 2015, 12:12:51 AM
I read somewhere a guy was injected in the stomach for this kind of surgery and I hate needles. Does anyone know why it is required?

Yes I used subcutaneous Heparin injections in my lower abdominal region for 20 days. It's a anticoagulant and prevents blood clot development.
The first week was really painful and the sharp pain would linger for several minutes! However, I got used to injecting myself and the pain subsided.

Any additional injections the beginners should know about?

I did not feel the spinal needle before my operation since I was given sedation. My first experience with the injectable anticoagulant and painkillers was terrible and I did scream in pain! But I did not cry lol.

I had to inject intramuscularly antibiotics. Hell, it hurt.
After injecting myself (ceftriaxone), I had very bad pain for 5 minutes. The muscle hurt like fk.
I sometimes did the injection in two parts of the thigh muscle cos it was really too too painful to bear.
I study medicine, so I know how to inject, and where to avoid. I doubt they will give you self-administer IM/IV. Mostly subcut.
