This comes from a post I put recently on the information thread of Dr Suhas Shah. Apparently as recently as December it was said by him or implied through his website that $USD30000 was the fee required to obtain the nails etc from the manufacturer and patent holder. But just two days ago the doc quoted $50k in an email. I'm hoping it's a mistype or mistake. He hasn't yet replied back to my clarification request.
Other doctors eg. Dr Franz Birkholtz, maybe Drs Dhawan and Parihar deal with the same manufacturer and I'd swear the fee is as I'd thought or nowhere near as high as what I seem to have been quoted.
What's the authoritative answer on this. Can it vary from country to country. If there is no error can I obtain it myself and save $20k. What fees for this are being quoted by others such as Dr Franz etc who use it.

I quote from a subsequent email of Dr Shah which now resolves this fortuitously:
"Dear Dave,
There is good news .Indian company sent me the new costing and with recent mail the cost is coming to US $ 30000 plus taxes appro 5%
company might take deposit for magnetic device to be used during lengthening as you finish lengthening and you return the device they will return it..
pl let me know if you want to transfer money in bank account of the company i can forward the details to you
it will take 5 wk for getting nail"
So $US30000 + 5% + refundable deposit
