We've all seen them.... 6' 4", big shoulders, and powerful looking men, but one thing also stands out, their faces look mad doofy (big nose, weird mouth, meathead look...)
Do women like these men, more than say a 5 10" Johnny Depp, or even a 5 2" Kevin Hart? To state even more clearly, would a 5 6" - 5 7" good looking dude outclass these ugly tall brutes in the dating scene?
-
I guess some do and I guess some do not. Riiiight?

Logical answer my friend, and the some do some don't mentality I believe is very true. I hope I didn't offend anyone with my post btw. I understand that some people are blessed with good facial aesthetics and some are not.

I really I have a question I want to ask here.
I know that the look is REALLY REALLY important when it comes for dating .. but like why do I get this vibe when I read all those threads that it's the only aspect you look at ?
for look wise .. hmmm
handsome (avg height ) > giant (ugly)
handsome ( bit short) > giant (ugly)
handsome ( really really short ) = giant ugly
but like if you insert one more aspect in those equation you would get totally different result
like how about if this giant guy has great personality ? rich? has strong charisma ? you really don't need more than 10 min to figure out those things
and sometime when you walk by a very very handsome guy you automatically assume that he must be not a very good lover as he would get what he need easily ..

Looks is not the only aspect we look at, but many of us believe it's the main aspect we are judged on.

I think the taller you are, the more you can afford to be lacking in other physical aspects. I've known a few traditionally handsome short guys in my high school and college years who were mostly disregarded as serious boyfriend material because of their lack of height. I've also seen a bunch of aesthetically unfortunate men who never seemed to have a shortage of women willing to date them, and I can only assume it was because they were quite tall as their faces were very odd looking.
Another example that seems to support this is that my mom is very outspoken and will often make remarks if she sees someone in the vicinity that has physical flaws. A number of times she has seen an attractive woman with a guy that has an ugly face, looks like a total geek, or is quite fat, and commented that she can't believe the woman is dating someone who looks like that. I noticed each time that the guy was always very tall.
Now a lot of these women would probably much rather date a guy of average height who is good looking than an ugly guy who is tall. But I do think that if you're tall, you can find a lot of women who will be willing to look past things like facial ugliness, obesity, etc, and go out with you so they can show other women they're dating a tall guy, whereas the shorter you are the more unforgiving women will be about other flaws.

exactly, most womens doesnt care to much in facial aesthetics or body shape if the guy is tall. The opposite for short guys, they doesnt care if you have a handsome face or have a ripped body you are directly excluded if you lack of height.

Op, are you talking about this kind of man ?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x9ARPZ09ss
The guy is 6'4", and the girl, i don't remember, probably 5'6"
He is not bad looking, but his face correspond to what you're describing.
I remember when i was in high school, in "terminal" which is the last year of high school in France, when students are 17-18 years old, there was this guy, who was 191-192 cm, he had a wierd face, but many girls, and not the least attractive, were mad at him.
ps:the girl who runs the youtube channel is a certifed ATTENTION WHORE.

All due respect KirP1, I think that's height neurosis, not logic talking. Most girls would not overlook every 5 7" guy just because they are 5 7", and disregard every other physical feature.
Yes height it's important to women, but mostly in that the guy has to be taller than them, not that he has to be tall. There was a poll that stated 96% of women would not date a guy SHORTER than them. This means that even a guy who is 5 4" could date plenty of sub 5 4" women, who might like his hair, eyes, shoulders, personality, intellect...

5´7 is not so short, im talking about really short guys , like 5´5 and under.

Here is something to consider:
Sperm bank wont take any donations from a guy 5ft 9 or under . Think about it.

Makes perfect sense. Height is a quantifiable characteristic in a designer baby

I remember someone in my topic who said they would accept it (the sperm) in some places if you have great qualifications overall.

actually that does not mean a 5"4 man can date plenty of women sub 5"4, it means that women taller will flat out refuse him. you have to take a separate poll which asks women questions to determine how many percentage of the population will date a man 1 inch taller than them, 2 inches taller than them, 3 inches taller than them and so on.
your assertion on the data is incorrect.
you will find that although not 96%, almost all women will refuse to date a man even if he is taller than them especially if he is barely taller than them. how man men have been called short even if they are taller than the girl. girls call any man shorter than the average for the population short. its because of the law of averages for perception and probability for what they have as options for dating.

How is the guy in that video doofy? He's pretty good looking isn't he? But then again I don't know as I am not Caucasian.
In Singapore, I think girls will easily be able to accept guys from 170-175 which is our average (average height here is officially 172.4). If you translate the figures to America, it is 174 - 179 is acceptable as average height guys.
I think it might be a little harder work for guys who are 165-169. If we translate this to America, we add 4 cm as usual (cause average height is 4 cm taller), so 169 - 173 cm guys in America will find a harder time. In my opinion, in the range of 165-169 in Singapore, it is a difference. I mean 169 isn't that bad. 165 is like... really short. In fact, 165 cm is pretty uncommon here. When I see a guy like that who meets me, I am like: "Wow he's so small like a kid!". And I feel kinda awkward with him. So that's how short 169 cm is, in AMERICA.

The guy in that video is not a bad looking dude. I'm talking more a michael Phelps or Madison Bumgarner

Oh there's a guy in my university who looks average or perhaps below average but he is so popular with the girls. He's about 192 cm? (Which is very very rare in Singapore universities, probably 10 out of the few hundred students we have). So its about 196 cm in America.. So I guess, yeah 6'5 is pretty good... But then again, as I have said, a number of girls whom I asked (and guys) thought that 183 cm and above is too tall in Asia (ie. 187 cm in America and above is too tall).
I think.. realistically.. some girls prefer very tall guys, and this is so common that he is popular. Either that, or he has a really nice personality (he is a basketballer). So his nice personality makes up for his "too tall" height and the real reason why he knows so many girls is probably his nice personality and the fact that his height and athleticism makes him very comfortable in his own skin.
Now, an ordinary 6'5 guy will probably not stand out. He has to be about-average looking with a great personality to replicate the success of the guy I just talked about.
In my opinion, a 6'5 tall guy who is fat, is not gonna be popular.. He's too cave-man like.
All in all, I am not sure what to think. I mean, I surveyed girls and they feel (some of them) that 6 feet is the cut-off point. Whereas, other girls seem to have no cutoff point - taller is better. The first kind of girls are more common.

I think that most girls would not want a 6'5 guy, but because they are rare and stick out, the girls who are interested in those guys will be all over them. They don't have the largest dating pool, but have the most girls "after them" because of their rarity.

I think I agree.
There will be like 10-20% of girls who like his rare height, and so he seems to be popular with quite a few girls (he is not popular with the whole school, just a handful of girls really like him).
The vast majority would think he is too tall. (unless he has countervailing points like good looks).
Which is why I chose 182 cm as my final height; this is tall in Singapore (which is equivalent to 186 cm in America). A wide number of girls will like your height - ie, that sense of security, and a small proportion will even love you so much as you are tall.

I mean. Since we have a choice of wht height to be (since we are lengthening), it will be best to choose a height that is going to have the highest chances of success and in my opinion, that is ~183 cm (In Asia), which corresponds to ~187 cm in America. Each cm of lengthening poses risks and becomes tougher and more painful with each cm. I think to gain any height above that cut-off point, is NOT worth it (risk-benefit analysis).

nope 186 cm at least which is 6'2 or 6'3 to feel tall in America. (Just as I expect to feel tall at 6' in Singapore)
6' is just above average, and many people in America should be six feet. (equivalent of 5'10 or 5'11 in Singapore which is pretty common here also)

Almost half the Americans are six foot and above, short people are the ones who distort statistics and drag the numbers down specially if they did these statistics including Hispanics and such in the mix so I agree 6'3" should be the epitome.

Tom cruise has been called short and he is 171 cm? (but is he actually shorter? cause he sure doesn't look so).
I am just commenting based on addition of 4 cm due to the American height being 4 cm taller than the average singaporeans. I am sure there are limitations to this method.

do you understand the definition to paradox.
from slimtim:
Nopp 6'0 is enough to live life to its fullest
while I don't agree with everything slimtim states. this is correct, 6 foot is more than enough to live happy, after 6"0 you do get gains but it is exponentially diminishing returns.
for the average of 5"9.5 the population will give both positive and negative discrimination and prejudice at equal distances from this average. because it is a symmetrical graph. therefore the values become 5"7 as the threshold for exponential additions of subsects of the population for greater levels of discrimination, and 6"0 become the value for exponential additions of subsecs of the population for greater levels of women not caring about the addition height and having a lesser preference for that additional height.
read rothbard is correct for 5"7. it is not short, it is in the category of girls thinking it would be nice if you were taller. you are on the borderline of the threshold. because you are on the borderline you can increase all your other desirable characteristics and still live a good life but you will although not short and in the category of it would be better if you were taller, you would still be dished out discrimination for not being tall enough.
5"7 - 5.9.5 (50th percentile) - 6"0 ................ the graph dictates 2.5 inches above and below are the threshold for a 50th percentile height of 5"9.5.
as for girls liking men who are 6"5, it is not close to 10-20%, but your argument in principle is correct. there will always be a subsect of the population who is attracted to anything. there is even a subsect of the population who are attracted to obese women. the reason for the overinflated value being 10-20% probably has psychological grounds based on your on preconception of importance for height. this is subjective profiling for your target population.

Meathead look is ideal, tall and meathead is going to be the biggest player around, the ultimate jock. Its been proven women prefer more masculine men for sex but not for relationships. So 6foot4 wide shoulders and meathead, these are the ideal sex partners for females. Goofy usually describes lanky me with narrow heads, not meatheads xD.

This is me, totally...just gotta get the "tall" part done.

188 cm is the sweet spot, you have the largest dating pool, not too short for girls who want very talll men, and not too tall for the others

yup if I came to the understanding that 183 cm is a good height In Singapore (average height 172) then in America it Is about 187 or 188 cm. (average height of 176-177)

Asa Akira? You have terrible taste bro, I can already tell that you're a pale pudgy guy. Girls that look like Asa Akira look like sphynx cats without makeup, and need to focus lots of time and effort on diet & exercise just to maintain a decent weight (she herself always complains about her genetics on DVDASA podcast).
-
Some girls like tall guys regardless of facial aesthetics, some girls like guys with facial aesthetics while placing height a requirement and/or plus, some are both.
Most girls won't date a guy over 6'3", if you go outside LL forums you will see that guys 6'3+ complain that girls get intimidated by their height in a bad way. There was a TV show in the UK about 3 guys who couldn't get dates, 1 of them was very tall (maybe 6'4") and his complaint was the girls said that he was too tall. When I was in university I slept with a girl that had a bf, I met him later and he was a giant maybe 6'4" but had a busted face — I guess she wanted a handsome shorty :D
NBA players are well known for being ugly as fk. Do you think any of those guys would get girls if it wasn't for their $$$, I don't even think girls care about their fame in sports. Girls only care about a guy's fame if he's an entertainer, and girls only care about a guys success if it = $$$.
If you're thinking about attracting women then perfect height is between 5'10"-6'1".
Ask any hot girl 18-25, they'll all say that Dave Franco > James Franco.

Until they find out that Dave Franco is 5'6". Then they'll sigh with disappointment.
I think anything around 5'8" and up, as long as you've got other things going for you (decent facial aesthetics, in good shape, career, etc.), height shouldn't ruin you. It's under 5'7" where things start to get really bad and your good qualities may not be able to compensate. I used to be a little over 5'5", and despite the fact that I'd done facial modeling, some girls still rejected me flat out because of my height.

Isn't that a killer? In high school I was 5'5 (pre-op height) and had the most ripped body on the football team and second most ripped on the wrestling team. I was benching 275 lbs at a weight of 160 lbs and was always complimented on my physique. Unfortunately it usually ended with "too bad you're so short". I even had a girl I'd regularly fool around with but she never introduced me to her parents because her family was mostly filled with tall guys and she thought they'd laugh at her.
Amazing the extent short guys have to work to get the same respect afforded to average height and tall guys and in many instances it still doesn't make up for the height prejudice in others.

Yeah 5'5" is a rough height. I would know. I was little over 5'5", MAYBE 5'5.5" or a weak 5'6" in the morning. I really stand by my thoughts that it's below 5'7"ish where, no matter what else you have going for you, you're going to be called out and/or rejected for your height a lot (even if you aren't even aware of the women who are rejecting you).
KiloKAHN, I'm really sorry you had to go through that. That must've hurt a lot. I've had girls call me out on my height too, even if only vaguely and not malicious. I've never had problems with girls, but even with the girls that WILL date you, they'll still call you out on it from time to time (at least, some of them will).

Where I live, the average is 4 cm shorter (about 1-2 inches) than America. Where I live I think 175 cm (5'9) is a common and pretty average height. So its not so good. its a neutral factor.
I think where I live 5'10" is a great height (tall, but a common height) ie, 178 cm. Until 183 which is 6'...After that, I think 6'1 starts to be a bit too tall.
All this is from what I asked some girl friends.

there is no way the average is 5'9" in your country, it's already average in the us, how are asian taller than american?
When i walk in the Chinese district in Paris, i'm always one of the tallest.I feel like a monster sometimes, this is crazy. When i want to boost my ego, i go there and i can see how big and tall i'am haha
I cannot imagine how i will look here after ll, not human i guess
-
Most girls won't date a guy over 6'3", if you go outside LL forums you will see that guys 6'3+ complain that girls get intimidated by their height in a bad way.

I used to feel "average" when walking in an Asian neighborhood near where I live, lol. And I was a little over 5'5".
Also, there are MANY girls who crave guys over 6'3" (up to about 6'5" ish as the max). They are called "size Queens," and trust me, they exist.
-
You'd think the average in the US is the average everywhere based on the forum. Like people living in India claiming the average height is over 5'7 there, when at 5'5 I was taller than half the guys I saw - Dr Parihar towered over everybody around him at 6'2.
I think it has to do with visualizing everyone as taller than they are because your eye level is inches below your total height.

My country (and Korea) is different from Japan, some parts of Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, india, Indonesia, etc. (we are the second highest height in Asia, I think the first is korea, at 173 cm)
What happens is that due to having the same GDP per capita as America, I think the average height of young people has went up. If you go to ANY university here, you would be tempted to say the average is 175. The official statistics for the whole population is 172.4 cm but I think, due to better nutrition etc in the last few decades, if you go to any Singapore university, the average is at least 175.
175 is very common here, so is 178. 180-185 is pretty common here too. If you walk about a few minutes, you will at least see a few guys who are 180-185 cm.
Above 185 cm is pretty rare, maybe you see a few of such guys In a single day outside.
You should go to Korea or Singapore to have a look yourself.

Just a random sampling of guys < 28 years old on dating app (16 males) & yeap they usually put their own height unlike westerners who inflate heights (if there is inflation it is usually 1-2 cm to hit 170 cm)

I came across a few 180-185 dudes but I excluded them as they were more than 30 years old.
178++, even 180 is very common here. But the short guys (ie, 165-ish they pull down our national average). 182-185, there will be quite a few. Just walk a minute in a busy mall.

Indian males average height Is 165, Singapore is at about 171-172 cm (officially, but I've grave doubts its off by 3 cm for the younger generation). Big difference
Our leaders, prime minister Is 185 cm, and the previous one was 187 cm (mr Goh). Before that, Mr Lee Kuan Yew was 180+.

this a very small sample, so it can't be representative, but if those are height are the most occuring , i can tell you that "singaporese" (correct me if i'm wrong) are short. The tallest is only 183 cm.
At my engineering school, there is one guy in five who is atleast 185 cm...it's hardly comparable
-
In my school about 1 out of 10 or 1 out of 15 is above 185 cm. Our average is probably not too far from America's.
And nope, I have taken larger samples. 175, 178, 180 is very common. But in this small sample 16x guys failed to feature. It is quite common to have 165-170 cm also.
The average Singaporean male is probably about 4 cm shorter than the average amercian
And screw averages cause the short guys everywhere bring the national average down
-
If you walk along Korean street of apgujeong, at least 15 to 20% Are above 180!
-

What exactly do you think "average height" means?
I just went down to buy some ketchup and I was the second shortest man in the entire store at 179CM even though I wore my thickest boots. Get on my level brah.
-
When I was dating, I would always inflate my height by around 4cm (166 to 170). I USUALLY got away with it, unless I was with a girl who was my former height, then she'd call me on it. But if they were 5'4ish or below, I was fine to say I was 5'7" (even though I was more like 5'5").
Sucked to always get sooooo many women viewing my profile (I'm far from ugly), but have only a few (attractive) women actually message me because of my height. That's why I almost always never made the first move. Most dates I got offline were from girls emailing me first. I wanted to have the upper hand.
-

LOL!!! The irony of your statement is that IsMyLife recently accomplished just that through LL! You two are both currently 179CM!

I meant that he should stop talking about how tall people are in Singapore are and visit me in Sweden.
No disrespect Itsmylife you've probably got way more guts than me.

Singaporeans are almost as tall as Americans (the younger generation) but definitely nowhere near the Scandinavia. I will visit Sweden when I am 183 ;)

I think for me this is one if the worst things about being short. Rejected by many because of one thing that shouldn't matter that much.
I don't care much about these women anymore but it sure stung when I was younger.
Do you feel much different just a couple inches taller where you don't really worry about your height anymore?
-
This poll is pretty representative of what is on the ground, but it is from quite some time ago (I think a few years ago, Singaporeans are taller now):
http://tinypic.com/r/30l12ro/8
http://tinypic.com/r/1y7ths/8
Median height is 174-175, just 1-2 cm shorter than America.
About more than 16%+ are taller than 180, or 180 cm in height.
26%+ are 178 and above..
So I don't think SIngaporenas are short, at least not much shorter than an AMerican.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. It's painful as hell to be rejected for something that we have no control over. I'm not sure what's worse...being hideously ugly (plastic surgery?) or very short (LL)?
I do feel different. I know I'm still on the short side, at 5'8". But, given everything else that I have always had going for me, I don't think 5'8" will be too much of an issue. I don't mind still being on the short side, I just wanted to be at a height where I feel like I blend in more (not too much shorter than the average guy, and taller than most women). So, I think once I'm walking around upright with no duckass, I really will feel better about my height.

I have about the same starting height as you. I'm at 5'6" in the morning. There are a good amount of guys around 5'7" or 5'8". 5'8" is not a bad height. I hope it's been worth it for you. Hopefully I can be as tall as you in the next year or two. I met a girl online this passed weekend who is in to tall guys and I got the inevitable question "how tall are you?" The question that used to make me cringe. But I don't really give a fk anymore. I did lie and say 5'7" though :). She's only 4'11"! Wtf! It's good motivation for me to start making a plan for LL.

It's the short women that are the WORST about height. I said this in another thread, I used to hook up with a hot cougar who was divorced from a 6'4" man (she told me his height was the main thing she married him before, because she didn't want midget kids). She was like 5ft. Her daughters both still ended up short, so whenever she made fun of my height, I'd make fun of her for that.
I think I was close to 5'6" in the morning, but closer to 5'5" at night. One doctor measured me at 5'5.5" around 10am, Dr. G and another doctor measured me in the evening at 5'5.3", so I go with that. I just hope I actually made it to 5'8" or just a pinch under. I'm kinda afraid to be measured or measure myself.
Once I'm recovered, if I measure below 5'8", I'm going to make attempts to get the rest of from yoga and gluco.

You could try Rolfing, it straightens your posture for maybe 5 years after the ten £90/$150 sessions. It can give you a little extra height as it straightens your spine, but even if it doesn't it should give the impression of vertical silhouette.

Yellow, I might join you on the yoga/gluco experiment. Well, more inversion/gluco. If I start it, I will do 20 min a day of inversion and 1500mg gluco sulfate for 2 months. Hopefully then I can gain 1 or 2 cm of temporary height, and hit my solid 5 10". Gotta do both because they compliment each other
-

Right, even if you're off by 5mm or so I'm sure you can gain that in your spine somehow. It woudn't surprise me if it became possible/was discovered that one could grow 1 or 2CM through supplementation, exercise, some kind of method or a combination of these things.
Maybe in the coming years something like that will happen.

I came across this while running "Parihar" in the search somehow.
Kilo, first of all the average height for adults is lower than that for teenagers. The average might be 5'5 for a lot of doctors and nurses but teenagers here are taller. Also 30% of India is under the poverty line which brings the national height down. But the privileged, well nourished people like my friends are obviously taller. I would say 5'7 is the average young male height in India, for those that come from well-to-do/rich families.
If you make students from say the tenth grade of a school stand in height order the shortest is likely to be 5'4 or 5'5, ones in the middle being around 5'7 and the tallest 4 being 5'10-6. I guarantee this.

The average height is roughly in between 165-170 but usually tops out to 165cm generally.

Did you read the quote you just quoted?
-That 5'5 average applies to the whole nation. 30% of the nation is under the poverty line.
-So it takes into consideration beggars who are 4'9 because they don't eat.
-Not only the upper classes of people, the likes of my friends and my society.
-I will not be hanging out with malnourished beggars/less fortunate for the most part(hope that doesn't come off as rude) so the average that takes them into consideration is pointless.
-Also the information is based on something 10 years ago. The survey is outdated.
I live in India, most guys my age are 5'6 to 5'10. The short ones are 5'4 or 5'5.

never thought singaporeans are tall.
but northern chinese people taller. many 180 cm now. and is average.. in my time. 175 cm is average. i feel sad being 168. i am the smallest in class when i study . then the second one is 174 cm

being tall covers all ugliness
