I feel like crap. All you guys have the same leg length as me (76 cm). However, all of you are like 5'6-5'7 with wingspans of up to 5'10. My sitting height is 78 cm, my shoulders are extremely narrow (15 inches wide), and my wingspan is of 5'3. I feel like crap I wish I was dead.
-
Listen buddy, I feel for you, but still realize that there are many men who are your height and live happy lives. We (the limb lengthening forum) are a small subset of people who place way too much value on height.
I saw a guy shorter than you in a wheelchair at a concert with a smoking hot girl by his side and he was having a blast.
You have to make some compromises. Try to do other things like meditation, running, cycling, and swimming which I guarantee will make you feel great if you keep at it.
You may win over a girl's heart if she sees that you are not bothered by your height. My heart melts when I see a girl with a disability who is happy, kind, and makes the best out of it (not saying you have a disability, but just saying...). I'm weird like that, I know, but believe me, there are so many kind people who don't give a flying fcuk about your height, of superficial matters in general.
Once you have a more positive and balanced outlook, than maybe consider CLL, but first you must realize that height does not = life.
Some people have easy paths to happiness in life, some have difficult paths. I suggest you see a psychologist, because he/she may be able to direct you towards the right path.

LWM, you and endomorphisme appear to be in the same position. Maybe he can help you cope with stress techniques because he's experienced the same discrimination due to his height and proportions.

Who is endomorphisme?

Who is endomorphisme?
I don't know how you manage to scroll pass his name
but he is pretty awesome.

I know that your situation is difficult. But the only you can do is to try to improve it with what you have. You will never be tall or average. But you could improve youar actual body with LL.
I think that you could be 5'6 and dont look very disproportionate

That short guy on a wheelchair you saw might have been having a blast, but you do not know if he was truly happy. OK, he has a smoking hottie next to him, so what?. Go find yourself a hot girl and let your height be... Will you be able to accept that?

I really can't tell you what was going through his head, I can only tell you what I saw. You can tell a lot about someone by the look on their face and the way they carry themselves actually.
You are right though, I can only make an educated guess based on what I observed, so I could have been wrong about that guy. However, you are making a less educated assumption that he is miserable just because he's short and crippled. A wise man once said, "you live your whole life in the confines of your head".
I have known many people with disabilities, many people who are very short, many who are ugly, and many who are tall.
I can tell you that there are happy and sad people in all of those groups.
-
I honest don't think you've even hit puberty yet, man.

I see. Just remember to never judge a book by its cover. I knew many people who I swear they seemed so happy but they confessed to me that they are very miserable. They told me what they go through etc... Guess what! These people are also very attractive etc... Yes, there are sad and happy people of every size. Ugly, happy people exist, sad, attractive people exist etc...

Nah man, it is a pretty weird case. I have the body of that of a 12 year old but I have a mfin d**k of an adult (6.5 inch), ok that is just one example. I also have hair all around my body, and I am starting to barely grow a beard. No one starts puberty at this point... I was just so unlucky to be stuck in the body of a 12 year old (and that is also when I pretty much stopped growing so it is no coincidence for me...).
-
Now, I am trying to hit the gym man. I hope I can gain some weight in the next month, I am also getting prepared to do some stronglifts as you told me man pretty soon! Haha I just need to get a bit more fit since I am skinny as hell as I always tell everyone.
-
You're not alone. My SH is 82cm, you just have to come up with a realistic lengthening goal for your SH. It's tough but wallowing won't help man
-
At least you've got a bigger dck than me, it should look even larger on your frame. Pornstar career?

Some people don't hit puberty until they are--no joke--20 years old.

You're only 16. You should get bone age xrays done to see if your growth plates are fused yet. If they are not, you should get on growth hormone ASAP.
I wish my parents had tried to get me some when I was your age. Would save me having to get chopped up like this now.

Possible alternative if not succeeding in college.

Hi LittleWhiteMan, I'm one of those 'lucky guys' at 5'7"(actually more 5'6.5"). However, that's where my 'luck' ends ;-) I may have 5.5" (14 cm) more bodyheight, but have only 7 cm more sitting height. So my leg length (floor inseam) is about 33" (84 cm), wich is just under 50%. I too have the torso of a 12 - 13 year old child with narrow shoulders and I'm skinny/lanky built. At your age (16) I was about your height (don't know exactly anymore) but I do know, I grew until my early twenties, gaining leg length only. Buying clothes today always ends in the junior department, including the preprogrammed disappointment of short arms and not to speak far too short legs ;-( Ok, at least the T-shirts fits ;-)
Living in 'tall country' the Netherlands, my dream height is still around 6' or 6'1". This even after reading in recent official statistics that the height increase of the past decade has ended and the youngest generation is even decreasing a little in average bodyheight - yes, ethnic corrected!
Will LL to do for me? Many aspects to consider! Desired body height is simple. 6' may be 6'1". Would require 5" to 6" height increase. An amount of LL that make sense to me. Wich would bring me however to a floor inseam of 38"or even 39". Such leg lenghts are not only disproportional at 6'/6'1" (53%) but where to buy any trousers in that inseam at a waist of 26? (Yeah, I wouldn't mind becoming average at 6'2" or 6'3" but would make me a total freak.)
So, doing less LL? Going from 5'6.5" to let's say 5'9" or 5'10" (below Dutch average, but both nice heights) means doing 2.5" or 3.5". LL of 3.5" in one segment could however japardize my femur-tibia ratio. Doing 3.5" in two segments is, from a view point of costs and efforts, out of the question. Doing only 2.5" in one segment, would bring me at 5'9".
Arm lenght is another story. I don't see it as a problem that my arms stay relatively short (compared to body height) after LL (even doing 3.5"). In my view it's more important to have an arm length that fits with my torso than with my body height. Some (professionally Photoshoppped) mock ups of guys with long legs, but arms in harmony with their torsos, underlined my view. But feel free to disagree!
So - that's where we share the same f**kted body proportions.

Are the dutch really that all? From what I gather the average is 182-184 for young men no?
I've actually spoken to some dutchmen and they mostly agree that 188CM is noticeably above average even there.
-
In Holland the average height is just under 184 cm.
-
Sorry guys - I didn't say anything about the actual average Dutch bodyheight here. Just that it has an little decreased! And that becoming 6'2 or 6'3"would be nice ;-))
It's correct, the average is about 184 cm.
-
It'll be good to note that the average of 184 cm in Netherlands is self-reported, while the measured average height there is 180.8 cm. Imagine what happens, say, to US average, when you allow people to report their height instead of measuring it, lol.

I noticed that as well. The numbers on the wiki page seemed to have changed, putting Dutch men somewhere between 181CM and 183CM.
Hey endomorphisme, looks like I was wrong, you won't be short in any country buddy. One less thing to worry about : )

For those who want the results of Dutch research: "The Dutch youth no longer increases in height, but get bigger (wider and heavier). This is the outcome of the Fifth National Growstudy (July 2014). After 160 years of becoming taller and taller, the average Dutch boy today is 183.8 cm tall; in 1997 it was 184.0 cm.
Turkish and Moroccan boys are smaller still, but are increasing in height.
Since 1850 Dutch men became 16 cm taller en women 14 cm. Before 1850 the average decreased.
As a possible course for the (small) height decrease the researchers see our modern food (more alcohol, more fat and too much of all)."
The Dutch Bureau for Statistics (CBS) has published simular data - wich I have to look up.

Would you be happier if you were the same height but with shorter legs and longer torso?
Dwarfs tend to have longer torsos and short legs… so you'd prefer to have the proportions of a dwarf?
Btw, if you're only 16 (in your profile) get growth hormone injections pronto… injections not pills... u still have a chance growing a few inches if you're plates haven't fused.
Eat healthy, Get a full 8 hours or more of sleep every night cuz you grow mostly in deep sleep and more growth hormones are released then.

I slept around 6 hrs a night throughout my teens, and also had a vitamin d deficiency. If I nipped those in the but back then, I would have been 6' like the good doctor said. Don't make the same mistake LWM. Your spinal growth plates might still be open. If they are, than get your blood work done to see if you have any vitamin deficiencies. Make sure you get 8 hrs sleep a night, drink 3 huge glasses of milk a day, and get on that HGH immediately.
Milk + sleep = max potential height. Wish I knew this as a kid.

Ugh, no. That's not how it works. You might have lost 1/10 of an inch through not "nipping those in the butt". Unless you are severely malnourished, that didn't have an effect.

You can't say that. Nutrition is known to have a significant influence on human height. Secular trend happens not when one generation suddenly jumps from being 'severely malnourished' to a high quality, good diet. It happens when the quality of nutrition gradually increases per generation and it's a known fact.

no women are getting together with taller and taller men, thats why they are getting taller each year. including the womenz are taller now. Not because of food or malnurishment. 2+2=4

Partially true about mate selection, but the effects of nutrition have a much greater role in the increase on human height over time. As RothBard mentioned however, the majority of this height increase from nutrition is due to the general population of people no longer being nutritionally deficient.
The extra few CM's of height however can come from "superior" nutrition, most of which can be captured simply from drinking milk. There is a reason that every children's multi vitamin advertises vitamin D3 and calcium as ingredients. Mega-dosing D3 was actually scientifically proven to increase height in children. So, say a kid has the genetic potential to be 180 CM; if he has a 19th century diet he will hit 173 CM, if he has a standard modern diet without any vitamin deficiencies, he may hit 177 CM, but If he drinks milk like a champ and sleeps like a baby, he may hit 180 CM.
This is painful for me to write because it brings back bad memories of my vitamin D deficiency.

This guy is right, unless you are severly malnourished your height wouldn't have changed much. Your body size was already determined before you were born, accept it.

Decreased height due to malnourishment is something that usually doesn´t occur in more developed countries. It´s our genes that determine our height, I know so many people who are significally taller than you would expect when you see their parents, on the other hand there are people like us who end up shorter than expected. They werent nourished better or worse than me or others, they simply have a different gene activated that lets their bodies grow taller.
-
Yes height is a commplicated process that isn't very well understood, it includes more than 20 different genes that work together in complicated ways. The only thing that has been proven to influence your adolescent growth, as far as I know, is various forms of steroids.
-
I think you guys are mostly right… not getting all your nutrition or a full 8 hours sleep is not likely going to affect the height of 1 person. My doctor had told me that most bodies have a way of compensating for deficiencies while they are growing from children to adulthood unless there are unusual or extreme circumstances. Unfortunately, mine was a little extreme because I went on a "soda diet" (drinking soda to feel full & eating as little solid foods to lose weight) for about 6 years in my adolescence and I got really really skinny. Worse, I slept only 4 hours a day by taking 2 hour naps as my way getting more study time for school. My body became accustomed to waking up automatically after 2 hours for many years even after I graduated college. Even with all that, I'm only going to say I might have lost 1-3 inches of growth since I stopped growing when I was on my soda diet with my sleep deprivation habits... or maybe I was destined to be shorter than my father and all my male relatives… who knows.
That being said, I think the foods you eat can affect people's growth over generations and it's not about nutrition either.
Over many generations, smaller Asians tend to eat far less calories and less red meat than their larger western counterparts with more vegetable & seafoods and even insects in their diet. Red meat was definitely not common even for the wealthy. I definitely think that it affected their evolutionary heights and evolution affects physical appearance down to your genes.
From my observations, westernized Asians eating a lot more American fast foods over a few generations are growing faster than those who live mostly on traditional diets because all my relatives who eat traditionally are smaller (but probably healthier) than those whose families have become westernized eating steak and burgers. It's quite noticeable at family gatherings when we have seating arrangements with tables serving traditional asian buffet and western buffet. Those sitting at tables eating noodles/rice/tofu with assorted chopped meat/seafood and using chopsticks are noticeably smaller than those accustomed to eating steak, burgers and potatoes/fries using forks and knives. It's almost comedic looking. I'm not talking about 1 generation but over several generations of accustomed food habits.

Incorrect. You don't need to be 'severly malnourished' to lose some of your 'detemined height'.

The dramatic increase of height in Europe starting during the late 19th century is closely linked with the beneficial effect of the industrial revolution. Our comparisons show that this effect is manifested in generally higher standards of living, better healthcare, lower children's mortality, lower fertility rates, higher levels of urbanization, higher social equality and access to superior nutrition containing high-quality animal proteins. In the past, some of these factors may have been more important for a healthy physical growth than they are today and some of them are important only in certain regions, but in general, the most important exogenous factor that impacts height of contemporary European nations is nutrition. More concretely, it is the ratio between proteins of the highest quality (mainly from milk, pork meat and fish) and the lowest quality (i.e. plant proteins in general, but particularly wheat proteins). Besides that, we discovered a similarly strong connection between male height and the frequency of certain genetic lineages (Y haplogroups), which suggests that with the gradual increase of living standards, genetic factors will increasingly be getting to the foreground. Even today, many wealthy nations of West European descent are ca. 3 cm smaller than much poorer countries of the former Eastern block with the same nutritional statistics. Another evidence for this genetic hypothesis recently appeared in the study of Turchin et al. (2012), who found systematically higher presence of alleles associated with increased height in US whites of North European ancestry than in Spaniards.
Remarkably, the quality of nutrition in the wealthiest countries shows signs of a marked deterioration, as indicated by the decreasing values of the “protein index”. This can illuminate the recent deceleration/cessation of the positive height trend in countries like USA, Norway, Denmark or Germany, which was routinely explained as the exhaustion of the genetic potential. In our opinion, this assumption is still premature and with the new improvement of nutritional standards, some increase still can be expected.

In summary, in our prospective study, we observed a height gain in the children who consumed a high amount of cow milk. Milk is regarded as the best nutritional support for neonatal growth and development. In pubertal children, cow milk may also be an important nutrient for growth and for achieving optimal bone mass to prevent osteoporosis in later life. Finally, height gain in children may depend not only on the calcium in cow milk but also on some of its bioactive components.
