Title: Is this whole idea even realistic
Post by: Mr.coreyb on July 10, 2015, 10:32:56 PM
I so badly want leg surgery, since I was 15 and noticed I stopped growing, I never considered it to be possible til now though. I am 21 and 160cm >:(. I am pretty broke but willing to do anthing to get the money to do this however when I really sit back and think I wonder how it's actually possible, I mean it sounds crazy and everyone is telling me its crazy to break my bones for this but I feel like killing myself daily, the only thing that stops me is the though of surgery. maybe its just a dream. the thing is too, I am not asking to be 6ft or something, I would be happy with 5'5 or 5'6, 5'3 is just too low for a guy, I feel sick when I look in the mirror  :'(

Sounds like you should do it honestly, if you think you would be happy at 165CM then that's a reasonable goal. It's not that crazy -what's crazy is living the rest of your life hating your body.

Just read up on it and be as prepared as you can possibly be.

Thanks man, yes I would be happy at 165 its better than 160, of course I would like 167 (ideal) but I dont want to end up disabled. I can't get the money maybe for another 2 years (well if I want a decent surgeon anyway) do you think prices will go up much then? Have you done the surgery?

You should go for 8 cm, that is realistic.  That is what my son is going for.

Realistic but dangerous, if he would be happy at 165 then I say 5CM is better for his proportions and his recovery as well.

Yes, it's realistic.  Many posters here, including me, have done the surgery and gotten taller.  We're not typical, but we do exist.  If you get the money, it's definitely possible and definitely not some wild dream.

hmmm okay sadly you may have to look into dual LL at some point in your life, you will need to measure your wingspan so see if you are fit for that.

once you do that you could set more realistic goals for yourself.

but the tibia and femur ratio maay be an issue, if you were planning on 7cm, the issue is that your legs may be too short for that and your tibia would be too long, in that case you may only get 5cm, and if you want more another 5cm in the thighs would have to be done.

i would also recomend to triple check your height by buying a stadiometer, by doctors office measuring tool is wrong by 4cm which i was shocked by, so you can't fully trust other peoples measuring sticks.

even though some people tell me on this forum that i wont be happy at 170 after my LL op. and i think they are incorrect, i will say in your case you may not be happy at 165 as that is my current height and it's not good.

It's not crazy at all man I live in the U.S. and I'm only about 2 taller than you. Like microman said her your measurements and really see what you want. If you decide you'd like to do dual know that it will be a long process. Even if you have the money recovery wise you will need time in between segments to get the best recovery. Personally when I wear boots without lifts I'm about 165 and I can you though it is better it's nothing compared to being even 170 or 172cm.
