Title: Recovery after LL surgery
Post by: rossgeller on August 19, 2015, 12:15:55 AM
Hello, are there people who got operated abroad?? If so, how did you undergo recovery, physical therapy, etc. Did you stay at the hospital/institution that operated on you for a few months or went back to your home country??

I stayed in Beijing for 5 months.  The hospital stay was included in the package deal they offer.

I had physical therapy sessions twice daily while I was in the hospital, then had a session once every two weeks at the hospital after my examination. Once I developed equinus contracture I had a physical therapist come to my hotel room for an hourly session 5 days a week for the remainder of my stay.

I had 2 physical therapy sessions back in the US during consolidation, but they told me that with my frames on there's nothing they can do for me that I can't do on my own. My local ortho insisted after frame removal that I go back to physical therapy to improve my ankle dorsiflexion and muscle strength though, so he's continuing once a week sessions at a local clinic. I'll find out tomorrow when my appointments start.
