Title: Best age to get the surgery done?
Post by: dreadhead on April 25, 2019, 11:30:34 AM
I turned 19 a month ago and I'm 5'10 and desperately want to hit 6'2.
I doubt I'm still growing although I can't be sure.

What's the best age to have this done?
It seems like it would really fk up someone's resume/school/career/social life
I really wish there was another way to grow but this the only realistic one

Younger = better.
U did fine that u discovered us at that young age instead trying methods for growtaller4idiots. Ofc you can try some yoga, glucosamine to increase up to 1.5-2cm but nothing more. Eventually u can try methods from some diaries like Captain America (he was 5'4 at 19 and in one year he grew to 5'6 using some supplements and drugs).
Anyways younger = better. To be honest the best time is before 25 for me.

I agree that the younger, the better if it is possible financially. Career/school is definitely a consideration but this surgery incurs a major opportunity cost. Whether it is your job, relationships or athletic aspirations, there will be something you have to give up in order to undergo this surgery.

If I had to pick an age range, I would say early to mid 20's as by this time you have completely finished growing for the most part and don't have to worry about growth plates being open etc and you are generally in great physical condition in your 20's and you can even attribute your height gain to a late growth spurt. I am getting it done this year at 25 years old but I would have loved to have gotten it done 2 years ago when I had finished university as I didn't have a full time job and other obligations yet. Being in a long-term relationship at the time prevented me from getting the surgery so it is also a matter of circumstance.

I would wait a couple of years to make sure you have finished growing first and then if you still want the extra height, go for it.

As long as your growth plates are fused and your legs are done growing; I am with the CLL community in saying that earlier the better.   It's best to get this journey behind you as soon as possible.

Having said this...as I perform inventory and retrospective of my life, my current age of 37 turned out to be the most ideal time in my life to have the surgery and still "hold everything together", meaning my career, relationship, etc.    I add this last line in because although I would advise young, just remember that as the years goes by; do not feel too obsessed or perturbed with whether or not CLL has been completed yet.  I always felt that in life it's what you did "in the meantime" which makes all the difference.

Good luck and all the best! If you have any questions on CLL feel free to message me.

Why on earth would you get this when you're already 5'10? You don't need it.

I'd say 21-23 is the best age, still young and your growth plates have definitely closed after 21.

Dude don't get the surgery done at that height. We all have height neurosis here but yours isn't the same as ours. You're average to above average in most of the west with the right shoes you're above average.
For the short people here their height neurosis is something that is continuously reinforced.

No the ultimate black pill is face>>>>>height.
I still have girls interested in me at 5ft 4 but that's because I look like Faarquad from shrek lol.

I strongly encourage you to see a psychiatrist
