Title: Being fat could affect spine growth
Post by: onemorefoot on August 22, 2016, 01:55:30 AM
I have been thinking about this, and I think that if I wasnt so fat my spine could have growth even .5 cm, but what do you think???  In some height predictors, weight is a factor that can decline height , specially in the spine.I dont think it is because of posture.

Being overweight can only screw up your posture.

Why would you even care about half of the cm lol.

Being overweight (well, obese) can decrease height due to compression of spinal discs. There is a study somewhere in patients with gastric bands and after losing weight there was something like 2mm less compression on lower discs - so if you lose weight you could theoretically get a small (negligible) gain.

So if I loose weight my height would increase a few mm forever while I am like that.

Theoretically, yes. But to be honest it's going to have the same sort of changes as taking glucosamine, e.g. virtually unnoticeable.

This question is in line with stuff like: What if I drank more milk when I was younger? What if I slept more? What if my parents weren't short?

Let's be honest here, your genes played the biggest part. These are the cards that you have been dealt with in life. Having these thoughts only take you one step back on your goal.

You should only worry about making money and choosing the best doctor you can afford.

LLCaptain your opinion is the same as mine, I just wanted to have the maximum potential and be healthy before surgery. In the past I used to be diffferent, but now I see that there is a solution.
