Which of the following doctor would you consider for LON:-
- Solomin/Barinov from Russia
- Parihar from India
- Aimin Peng from China
- Catagni/Pilli from Italy
- Birkholtz from South Africa
- Mitkovic from Serbia
- Monegal from Spain
-
State your reason/s as well, thank you.
-
should be peng and for the amount that i want to lengthen but still a bit confused
-
My choice there is barinov because I will do 4 cm if I do externals and I like that they let you stay in their clinic makes me feel more secure being in a foreign country. If I had more available time I would consider Parihar or that doc from south Africa, although I'm not sure that I would really like being there.
-
but isnt russia like unsafe for foreigners leaving alone the fact you would be there with 2 bones broken already.
Staying in the clinic is way safer i guess.
And about barinov, was rgkey his only bad case?

Latn with Dr. Barinov
because he's skilled judging from the x rays of patients I have seen, talked to, and after lengthening results of his patients. He provides a safe clinic with supervision to stay at (although a little overpriced).
He has a general trend of good results. Although I feel for rgkey, he admits himself walking without crutches when Dr. Barinov clearly told him his legs could not sustain his body weight without the crutches. He walked without them anyways and ended up with bow legs And yet Dr. Barinov is willing to go as far as fixing his bow legs for free.
That to me is a sign of a good doctor.
I would not do LON with Dr. Barinov. He had one patient that I know of, death rob, and he was in frames for over a year and a half.

All the patients I have talked to never felt unsafe in Russia. Don't beleive everything you read on this forum. Most people here who post their opinion have never been to Russia. Pm patients who have done this surgery in Russia and u will get a real opinion.

That's good info, does he have a diary? I thought LATN requires more judgement and proficiency than LON which implies someone who can do LATN can also do LON because its simpler.

Yes death rob does have a diary on old forum . There is a few of Dr. Barinov diaries are on old forum .
I am not sure latn requires more judgement and proficiency. In my personal opinion, I think it is easier then Lon because a simple external lengthening is performed first followed by nailing. There is no lengthening over nail related issues this way. Also a correction can be done before locking of the nail which can't be done in LON.

This article has some really good comparison between the two.

I will have to talk to him to see which method he feels more comfortable in but I was of the same opinion that lon is less complicated. I've seen in the old forum diary of people doing 10, 9. 8 cm so I'm sure if I did 4 cm that things should be relatively safe.

Thanks for the info. It does seem that in my case LATN could be better since I'm not worried about having more callous forming.

Dr. Lee isn't on this list, but he should be since he does LON and would be one of the top options IMO

I will be operated on 24.04.17 next month by Prof.Dr.Muharrem Inan in Istanbul. Tibia lon he is one of the best in Turkey.
-
I would recommend LATN with Barinov but absolutely not LON.
-
Consider Dr. Singh, very careful surgeon but expensive.
