Title: Should I wait for PRECICE 3? (STRYDE)
Post by: justaveragedude on May 06, 2018, 07:26:59 PM
I want to add 10-12 cm more to my 1.70cm natural height, but I would also like to save my agility and mobility to the maximum . Is it possible with PRECICE 2.2 method? I read that The PRECICE 3 method may be available later in 2018 or early 2019 worldwide. I do not want to go to Paley. Also do you think when PRECICE 3 practice becomes worldwide possible this will cause PRECICE 2 to be slightly cheaper?
Good luck to you all!

If I had to guess precise 2 would stay the same or go up more and precise 3 just may be more expensive. This surgery is trending in the direction of being more and more expensive.

Are you planning on both femurs and tibias? The maximum distraction amount for Precice 2.2 is 8 cm, I doubt that the newer nail will increase it; definitely not up to 12 cm.

Yes I plan to do both, but i am also thinking of doing 8 cm external LATN on tibias. I do not smoke nor drink, however I really want to be able to run because I enjoy it. Do you think that is possible or I should forget the running part. I am determined to lenghten myself in the upcoming 2 or 3 years and if this is the physical price I will pay it too. Also Android, assuming I do 7 or 8 cm on tibias in your personal opinion if I build some musle in my lower legs after the lenghtening would that help me in some way?

8 cm tibias is highly discouraged, much more manageable with femurs.

If your goal is 10-12 cm and you plan on getting both tibias and femurs done, I'd aim for something like 5 cm tibias and 7 cm femurs.

Here are some videos of running after recovery (http://www.limblengtheningforum.com/index.php?topic=4826.msg75855#msg75855).

Definitely get the PRECICE 3. Being able to stand on your own legs 3 weeks after the surgery, vs. being limited to a wheelchair or walker for months, is a complete game changer. Walking (even with crutches) means your PT will be much easier than if you spend your days on a couch, in a wheelchair, or in bed.

I'm one of Paley's last patients to use PRECICE 2.2, and I'm trying pretty hard to not be pissed that I didn't wait 1-2 more months. Being unable to walk makes everything extra difficult, both physically and mentally.

At least you'll be able to say "you think you kids have it hard! Back in my day..."

Your suffering makes our waiting useful... you are a hero... So thanks. Any idea when/if precice 3 is available for other clinics?

Precice's 1.0 had the most problems out of all of them, and 2 still had to go through 2 revisions. Who knows how the first models of 3 are going to fare?

Hang in there, man.

You are correct but even though 2.0 went through 2 revisions it was still better than 1.0 according to Dr Paley, one of these versions was very minor change too. I would assume that the third version should be better than 2.2.

OP can you link where you read about PRESICE 3? I am also in your situation and would love to be able to not be in a wheelchair after.
