Title: Asking same question again - plz help - thank you
Post by: Lalbadshah on August 30, 2019, 07:42:44 AM
Team/Friends - I really need your input on this. I am writing diary, contributing to this forum and expect that each one here will help each another, but very few people I see provide their valuable inputs when I ask questions which makes me wonder if most of us are here just to get knowledge and not to put any effort or offer anything. Anyway, that was my sincere concern and venting. Now my question -

I am doing LL on femur. While I can walk (with cane, even without cane but funny walk and cane provides security) to office and work, the problem I am facing is even on the nice comfy chair the office has my butts hurt soon. Maximum I can tolerate sitting in one go is like 1 hour (that also by forcing myself not to get up), so sitting is not comfortable (unlike lying on bed which is very comfortable). My question is - in my current role I have the option to get up and roam around any time I like I do not have a job that necessarily requires sitting for long time. BUT - in 3 weeks I will switch to something else which would entail me sitting for upto 2 hours in a stretch. So, do you have any advice? like are u aware of any special kind of chair or any special kind of cushion or sitting aid that helps ? or any other suggestion for this situation/problem? thanks a lot.

Hi Lalbadshah

I also remember that I couldn't sit on any chair for long during lengthening.  I think it is because I was losing all muscle and cushion on my butt.  I couldn't sit even longer than 30 min at that time.  I really don't know what is the best option for you.  Perhaps you can add additional very comfy cushion on your chair?

most LLers do not go to work until recovery. Almost no diaries have people going to work during lengthening. That means most sit on the bed or walk around. This is probably a problem that is worse for you exceptionally.

I don't know where you work but if they have bean bags, that could be useful.

Yes man, the problem is  caused by loss of muscle and cushion on butt, I can feel it when I sit. Yes I am also thinking of doing research during this weekend on some additional comfy cushion kind of option on amazon, lets see, thanks.

Agree, that is why I am also doing a lot of work from home from my bed. One ting i can think of is that of fallen774 who used to go to work in wheelchair. Now, wheelchair is definitely comfier then any chair , also I remember he wrote that his work (just like my current work) did not require long sitting sessions and just like me he also used to take a walk every few minutes. Problem comes when the nature of your work changes and requires you to sit tight for along duration and you cannot just walk up and walk around every 15 minutes and unfortunately my nature of work is going to change to that kind soon. Anyway lets see, there is always hope - the best of things - the last of things.

Can you ask them to let you get up and walk around for a bit every hour or so, instead of sitting continuously for 2 hours? Tell them you recently had some injury that's still healing and you will need to do this for the next few months while it heals - you don't have to tell them the truth about having done CLL. Most companies if they value you even a little should be OK with this small request.

Hi, so basically if you cant sit on chair how am i supposed to sit on Hospital Bed for a week ? how to sleep? how to go to restroom?
This pain you experienced was after lengthening how many cms?

I am usually so concerned about these little details because My biggest fear and concern is After surgery with like 4/5 months im unable to walk properly and sit comfortably...that would affect my life so negatively....i dont know if thats just temporary until bone consildates or permenant complication...
