Hi Guys,
So I just think it would be very useful to discuss these topics , because to this day i dont understand what may stop someone from reaching the Full 8cm in Femurs?
- Is it because once the upper femur starts to lengthen the whole legs stiffens & too much tension on ligaments/ tendons?
- Why IT Band release specifically? like for me if there is a tendon that tight in my legs it usually the one in back of tibia and ankle these are the ones that becomnes too tensioned out when i stretch! not the femur ones.....i think that maybe this it band if it cut it may cause imbalance and maybe knee issue as its connected to it?
-Hip Joints, these are crucial for proper walking, what would cause them to be stiff and painful with stryde? Inflammation?
- what else besides IT BAND release may happen in femur surgery? ....did anyone here manage to lengthen 7/8 cm without it band release?

From a doctor:
My humble opinion is to follow the surgeons with the most experience. It seems that the guys with most Precice experience (read Paley) do ITB releases and the ones with most Albizzia experience (read Guichet and Betz) suggest that ITB release may not be necessary.
Personally I perform an ITB release because I believe it adds value.
Theoretically a tight ITB can give a hip flexion contracture, knee flexion contracture and/or failure to extend the nail. I have had to perform a release on somebody else's patient with a nail based lengthening and tight itb recently.

He is saying that he does ITB release. They claim iliotibial band regenerates and the release does not affect you in anyway. It's very different from ATL (which is made in tibia lengthening) which makes calf muscles weak for good.
The positive about dancers is they are much more flexible than regular people, so theoretically their soft tissues can handle lengthening better.

ohh, so even if i do pilates and all stretching excercises before surgery it wont matter...ill still be stiff
Thanks for explanation by the way

Doing 8cm in femurs with stryde, the doctor will perform ITB release on you. I don't think thats what you should be worried.

Is Paley saying dancers / people who are more flexible benefit more?
