For a while now I've been preparing for LL by trying to do the splits.
Yesterday, I did some pretty intensive gymnastics-level stretching and today I'm sore.
My mom tried to tell me that it's bad for me to stretch while I'm sore, but in LL you have to over-stretch and if I had to guess you will be super sore.
Should I keep stretching like I'm not sore? Is that what PT is like?

You should rest for about a day and then, depending on how you feel, start over. Remember, when you're stretching properly, you can usually feel a slight pull in the muscle. A sharp or stabbing pain means that you're stretching your muscles beyond their capacity for flexibility. You are overstretching and potentially injuring yourself.

Have you scheduled your surgery? if you're not going to go undersurgery very soon don't waste too much time. Tissues have their own flexibility and for the most it's genetic and due to your age. Don't do it too hard, it's not necessary and you risk to rip off.
Stretching is important during the lenghtening to let muscles and tendons get longer well, otherwise it's not so useful because tissues tend to come back to their original lenght very quickly.
I know that it's a way to feel like you're entering the LL procedure, but it's not so useful. Do it if you like it as fitness activity.
