Title: About nonunion
Post by: a on August 09, 2020, 09:34:20 PM
Hey,

Cannot we just prevent non-union (not nonunion itself, from the damage) by only lengthening one leg for 2 3 days and take a xray immediately? If the growth is happening with zero problems, we can also lengthen the other leg later. Doesn't it make sense?

There are people who did 5cms then realised they have non-union and stuff, how is that possible? Isn't it obvious for the doctor via xrays?

Best Regards

I think you should discuss it with your doctors.

As far as I understand, it can be generally evaluated how likely non-union is by looking at your analysis. Also, it’s constantly monitored by your doctor.

It would prolong the lengthening phase, people tend to want to finish lengthening phase ASAP since it's the most challenging&stressful phase for the body. Your idea itself doesn't sound illogical to prevent non-union but time is gold for most of the people undergoing for this surgery, considering they have to turn back to their work/school/country.

Actually that would make you lose only 2 days or so.

Ah, I got you now. I first thought that you were saying "lengthen one leg for 3 days, then lengthen the other one for 3 days, and keep that loop until the end of distraction phase." My bad  :)
