Title: IV gauge

LL veterans, what was your IV experience like? I know it must be less painful than the surgery itself, but I hear the size of the needle makes a big difference.
Did you get an 18, 20, or 22 gauge needle?

typically 20-24 g is used
18g and larger are usually for more emergency situations

I thought 18 and 16 are used for major surgeries, LL is a major inpatient surgery.
But I can see it not warranting a large IV since as it is an elective surgery the environment is as controlled as it can get.
