Title: having trouble achieving full height after LL
Post by: microman on November 07, 2020, 04:06:05 PM
hello,

I did 7.2 tibia and 4.0 femur and I am only experiencing 10cm, is there an exercise I'm suppose to do to try to get the full height I am due.

My legs are straight as they are at 0 degree.

Thanks

Are the 7.2 and 4.0 confirmed on x-rays?

yes completely, was originally 164.4

when I did 7.2, I only experienced 6.2 (170.6), then when I was recovered i did femurs for 4.0, only experienced 3.0 (173.6), then over a year later, in recent months I got 8mm taller, (173.6 - 174.4).

Could simply be your posture, muscle imbalances that were corrected with your new height.
Don't forget if you have a pelvic tilt before it gave you a height increase.

Hi microman
I think they are more likely due to errors in all those measurements. It is generally very not accurate to measure height change by X-ray. And height measurement itself can have variations even in a same day. Although your variations seem to be too much, you have probably gained somewhere 10 cm.
I don't think that fully consolidated bones will shrink in short time.

Don't internal femurs never achieve the exact amount of lengthening due to lengthening the anatomical axis vs the mechanical axis?

One more thing was there any reason why you did the reverse of usual lengthening segments? Doing 7.2cm on tibias instead of femurs and 4cm on femurs instead of tibias?

I got what I needed after 4cm, I felt tall enough, I was tired of the process.

I have contacted the dr to see what he says about it, I am due 1.2cm, even if it is lesser for some reason, i feel it would just be 2mm not 12mm!

Dr. Giotikas said that, as the femur is not totally straight, you "lose" 1mm per cm you gain. For example, 5 Cm lenghtening means 4.5 cm real height. And about de 0.8 cm you gained, it hast to be postural... When I'm fit and with a strong back I am 0.7 cm taller than when i'm not

Thanks, I was wondering about if/how much you lost eith femoral lengthening. Well that's a bummer because so IF I get the full 8 cm I will end up with 7.2 and end up at 5'9.25" instead of a solid 5'9.5" so I lose my privilege of getting to claim 5'10"  :(

How much you lose with Femur lengthening depends on Q Angle (google it) - Males generally lose less mm than Females as Males (more narrow pelvis) generally have lower Q Angles than Females.
I have narrow hips and would say I only lost ~ 3 mm in height after 8cm of Stryde Femur CLL.

It’s just math. The difference between anatomical and mechanical axis in a man is 6-7 degrees. So the difference in length is less than 1%. Even doubling the degrees for a particular hypothetical conformation, it’s still less than 2%. Quite irrelevant.

For how long have you lengthening? You seem to have started lengthening in 2015? WTF
