Hey guys,
I have surgery booked for 23 June with Dr Giotikas. 5 cm femurs with Precice, after all the Stryde mess. I know I will be at least 3 months on wheelchair, and I have no problem with it, because I'm lucky and my gf comes with me to help. However, I do am terrified about breaking the nail before reaching my goal. I will get the big nail that takes 65 kg (I will be 70-75 kg), and Giotikas says that at home I should use the walker, and the gravity treadmill on the PT center.
The question is: how easily does it bent/break? I'm worried about the little things like having a misstep getting each day into the taxi, going to the bathroom... I have tried to use a walker too these days and I have no idea if I'm putting the weight on it properly lol. Also, do any of you now how they get you in the gravity treadmill if you cant walk?

Yes, I have seen those stats. That's why I want to be as careful as possible. I'm worried of not using the walker properly

From those stats, I wouldn't put any more weight on it than you absolutely have to.
The only variable to consider is those were Korean patients who might have been using the narrower nails and if you're a bigger boned person maybe you can use one of the thicker nails and that might be more stable.
But that's just speculation.

Beware!!
the thickest PRECICE nail allows for 70LBS of weight bearing, not 65kg.
Please do NOT walk with the PRECICE . it is not designed to really bear walking weight. If you have to stand, do it with maximal arm assistance with crutches and a walker.
PRECICE is otherwise a great implant and you will reach your lengthening goal !

I think he meant overall weight. While standing your bodyweight is half on each leg right?

I think he meant overall weight. While standing your bodyweight is half on each leg right?
Yeah - until you lift one leg up to move it then you're fked.
Solution: Wear roller skates and you won't have to lift your legs. 8)
(Don't wear roller skates).
