Title: How soon after LL surgery with Precice 2.2 can I fly?
Post by: ActionSpeaks on March 15, 2021, 05:35:51 AM
Hi, now that Stryde is on hold, I am researching Precice 2.2. Seems the main difference is that the latter isn't weight bearing ugh lots more time wheelchair bound. Does anyone know how soon after femur surgery with Precice 2.2 it is safe to fly? I was originally going to use Stryde and planning to fly home just over 3 weeks after surgery. I have looked on various posts but haven't seen this yet. Thanks!

I believe most doctors require you to stay on-site for the entire distraction phase with Precice.

There is no difference between Stryde and Precice here. The risk is of pulmonary embolism while flying. A Halil Buldu patient recently said he flew 3-4 days after surgery. I don't know what precautions he took but maybe blood thinners was one of them.

Thanks for your reply! Ugh the entire distraction phase. Although it does contradict my other reply today. Different doctor requirements I guess.

Blood thinners seems like a really good choice when flying!

Ask your Doc if anti-thrombosis injections are an option
