I'm just curious what is the sentiment about telling any of the following : significant other/spouse/family/friends about LL or keeping quiet about it your entire life ?
Also to those who did LL with someone, did it affect your relationship negatively or positively with the person ? I remember a diary where one broke up with his GF due to the stress of LL.

I told some close friends about it. One of them took great offense to it for various reasons (this person also loved to joke about short men) and that friendship ended. The other two I told have been supportive but worried.
Honestly I’m not sure if I’ll tell future girlfriends about what I’ve done. Certainly not casual affairs or flings, but probably not even girlfriends either. Maybe a wife one day but maybe not! People may say it matters that I’ve done this, but I don’t think it does. Why would it matter if I’m over 6 feet naturally or if I got there via a surgery or two? I’m allowed to be as mysterious as I please in my own life.

Thanks for the input man, its gold.
Honestly, for me its because I already have a LL discrepancy, but my thinking is if Im gonna suffer to fix it anyways, lets get the most of it and do both legs. So there's less of a taboo for me in a way. But I hear you, and sorry about your friendship.

This person sounds pretty toxic. Condolences for that bit of trouble

I think some should know like the ones you trust the most with this information like your parents or someone you know won’t freak out or see you differently.

People who knew you before LL and doctors, and only if the doctor needs to know about it.
-
where docs shocked or surprised when you divulged it ?

I woudlnt tell anyone about CLL. Chances are if you are short the people that knew you before. Probably didnt give a about you.

Hi, my 173 cm ex con tough guy opinionated brother in law that I have know for 35 years was visibly confused and uncharacteristically shaken first time he saw me at 179 cm (i was previously 171 cm),.
He wouldn't stand close to me, and sheepishly commented that people of his generation(6 years older than me lol) had it tough and that's why they are a bit shorter.
My 5 foot tall female boss out of the blue said She really likes my height and wishes She were taller, my 6'1" coworker after 2 years suddenly asked flat out how tall am I cause we seem at similar height?, my 5'7" Brother looks at me with a mix of suspicion and wonderment, my close co workers are also confused, the shorter ones began suddenly complaining to me nowadays how short they are - but really no-one has had the outright balls to ask me "did you get your legs lengthened??" - I wouldn't tell them anyways, it is my business - let em stay confused LOL.

Nice. Maybe Gattaca is getting old enough that most people will never have heard of it from now on. ;D

I told a couple close friends about it, immediate family, (mom, dad & sister) and my ex, girlfriend at the moment, which helped me in my recovery. but in hindsight If I had to do it again, I wouldn't tell anybody before that, and tell my immediate family right after the surgery.

Honestly I didn’t think about any of this, thankssssd a ton you guys.
Being 5ft1/2 really makes me the shortest in the room most of the times, and I always end up getting pi**sed at the fact that I’m even shorter then most of the girls...
But knowing that I can get taller through this surgery always made me calm down, but when ever I felt I would often bring this surgery up and tell my mates about it, just so I feel better about myself, and that I can change but now that I have read this forum, I regret telling people that I want to do this surgery...
Honestly keeping its secrets is the best thing you can do, this way people will think your just naturally taller and most of the people don’t even know such a surgery exists...
People will always try to bring you down, if you say you done the surgery, they’d be jealous and would still will mock you saying, he can’t run fast, “ he paid tons of money for it, “ I’d never do it “
Bla bla, so best to keep it a secret
I guess it’s okay to tell close family members once you’ve done it, or if you need any kind of support,
Also you can just say, you had a accident or some leg problem so you are spurn surgery...
Anyways thanks a ton guys, from now on I won’t talk about I the surgery to anyone till I do it

For some telling the surgery to nobody is the best for them. Everyone should weigh the pros and cons of not telling others and telling some. Good luck in your LL journey Gman wishing you all the best!

You don’t need to mention it to anyone. They will simplY NOT UNDERSTAND. I only told two of my Bestfriends. MALE and another really close female friend that spends the whole day on FT with me.
This is one of those take it to your grave things.
