Title: Lengthening with G Nail with Dr Guichet
Post by: Christall on September 16, 2021, 07:44:33 PM
I suffered a lot with my height growing up  (1.65 m). After college, I got a job, and this triggered my anxiety even more. I finally put my job on hold when I was 20 years as I discovered (after considerable research)  “The Guichet nail” or “the G Nail”, Dr Guichet was experienced in the fully weight bearing nail, at that time, there was no other weight bearing nails (no Stride yet!). I went to see him with the full support of my family and I was fortunate enough to be able to pursue it. After the pre op training we planned the surgery. I gained 72 mm (with my first surgery). All was not easy, but I was very motivated and very flexible. I recovered very fast.
I found it made a massive difference to my life with a strong ‘confidence boost’.

I was so pleased with the outcome I decided to do a further lengthening as I was still shorter than average. Dr Guichet requires a pre op training which is exactly suited to achieve the best result for lengthening. I followed Dr Guichet’s instructions and was also able to train by myself and gained 30% of muscle force so was ready for the surgery. HOORAY !

Yesterday, I entered the hospital (Day-care hospital in London) at 8:00 AM. I was anxious but not stressed (my mother was far more stressed than me). I was happy to get on with it and gain my extra cm’s.

After the operation, I slowly woke, but found I was totally painless and very agile. One hour after surgery, Dr Guichet popped-up and asked me to do all sorts of exercises including walking up and down a flight of stairs. I could fully bend my knees and hips,  it was easy, maybe due to the fact it was my second lengthening .The nurses and doctors were shocked at my ease (they were very warm and reassuring and couldn’t do enough for me ).

I did the stairs, but they didn’t have a bike at the hospital (hospital is very new). 3 ½ hours after waking I walked out of the hospital on my feet with aid of crutches down to Harley Street to catch a taxi. My mom took videos but I'm not sure I want to share them as I'm a private person I also appreciate the confidentiality Dr Guichet and the trainers have provided.

When I arrived back at the flat, I did 5 minutes on the exercise bike with maximum resistance (8/8) with no problem. Dr Guichet assured me that I will fully go back to my normal life soon (with cautious walking), and I may not loose muscle force, like some of his patients.

This morning I did my training at home then onto the “clicks”, it's been a few years so I couldn't fully remember the position in which I did lengthening last time, a quick Video call with Dr Guichet and everything was sorted. At 2 PM, I went to the physiotherapy centre for the consultation with the rehab doctor then for my training. Dr Guichet asked me to do Elliptical, which I did, its stressful to go on the machine as its high, but with a bit of help , on I got. When I go tomorrow, I think I will use a step to get on and off as it will be easier. Its only one day after my surgery and it's difficult to believe for me and my mother but I'm so pleased the way things are going.
I'm back home now and plan to do some “stretching”  then do my “clicks”, have a good meal then chill out a bit before my last set of “clicks”  then bed.

See you soon!

Sorry, man, if I am wrong, but these past weeks Guichet "diaries":

http://www.limblengtheningforum.com/index.php?topic=68031.0
http://www.limblengtheningforum.com/index.php?topic=67956.0

now including yours, looks very suspicious. More like some trying to revive Guichet career than a genuine diaries. Just opinion.

Hello, in my knowledge Dr. Guichet's career has always been active. Always moving from London and Milan for surgeries.

Maybe his patients are happy to go back to their normal life and do not have time to write and comment in this forum.

I too, will be very busy with studies in a few months and will not be visiting as much.

In your knowledge? 1 death, 1 ruined life and still ongoing legal process. And that's the only we know. Maybe there are even more. Guichet used to be LL superstar 8 years ago but no one recommends him anymore.

Dude, even your diaries are written in the same "pattern". And just after 1 hour after my comment you are here to advocate completely new guy diary. I think admins should be alarmed about these "diaries".

This sounds too good to be true. You did the surgery yesterday and everything you mentioned happened within two days ? Plus you already started clicking on day 2 ?
Most patients I know are still recovering from anesthesia for the first 2-3 days. Sounds suspicious to say the very least!

what happened to the latency period, crucial in limb lengthening? 🤣

I am pretty sure that he'll stop lengthening phase on tomorrow and the nail removal is already scheduled for the next week.

Guichet and Betz lengthen 1cm right after surgery. I think it's just their protocol.

They do that during the surgery, not after. @V21 can confirm that. Dr. Giotikas also did him initially 1 cm gap.

Betz does no such thing.

Could I ask what do you mean by that? Could you please explain.

I am on my 4 months after surgery and had a  gain of 9.6 cm. Is the healing faster with your technique? If you want to check my X-rays, 3 months 3 week from surgery. Please let me know if it could be better.

I also had an initial 1 cm gap during the surgery, and started doing clicks from day 1.

What is Dr. Guichet's thoughts on the most common specific motions/physical situations where patients accidentally injure themselves?

Certain positions while cooking? What mistakes do people make when trying to lower themselves onto toilet/bath/etc?

ty!! Did the 1 cm gap at the start mean you don't have to spend as long to lengthen? Does it change how long a patient needs to be in the area of the doctor?

Before the surgery Dr Guichet has a training program that teaches us how to walk with crutches, take the stairs, shows us the right way to seat and stand up from seating position and what to do when you feel you are about to fall. I do not know if other surgeons have the same program, but I think it is really important to know how to move and manage yourself after the surgery.

Part of Dr Guichet reccomendation is to have someone with us, a family member, a friend or a helper, that will do all house work like cooking and cleaning. It is also a way for us patients to only concentrate on their daily training and clicks.

1 cm gap after the surgery for sure descreases the lengthening period of a week or 2.

ty!!!! Great idea!

In your experience, what are the easiest ways to fall that most people are not aware of?

As I remember facing down is better to help yourself with your arms. But the best way is to prevent yourself from falling at the first place. Having a someone with you all the time is important, lengthening shouldn't be done alone. I am sure your surgeon will give you a proper training on how to walk with crutches before your surgery. Make sure they teaches you how to take the stairs, it is complicated if you do not know the right technic.

10 days ago I finished my lengthening. I didn't think I'd get further than my first lengthening (7.4 cm) so I'm proud of what I've achieved and gained 9 cm. Also, I’m happy I’m getting back flexibility. Dr. Guichet congratulated me because I could cross my legs easily. I did all exercises he gave me, which I did and still do almost continuously throughout the day. I was about to stop at 8 cm as I already reached a good gain. He told me that I was doing great, and as I was feeling fine, after stopping one day, I decided to carry on lengthening. I can walk pretty well and walk 90 minutes every day.

During my lengthening I took painkillers only 12 days, but didn’t have to take anti-inflammatory medication. During the first month of lengthening, I didn't experience particular pain, only stiffness from time to time, clicks were easy especially on the right. Actually, clicks are felt more like a discomfort than a pain (only muscle stretching). I am used to them. 20 days after surgery, Dr Guichet gave me permission to leave London and go on clicking at home, as it was my second lengthening and as he said he trusted me: I fight hard to do the full training protocol. Every day, in addition to walking, I do 90 minutes of bike, 200 reps of each of the exercises.

Getting taller is hard but really worth it. Training is not a piece of cake. The success is at the level of the energy and determination we put in it.

About 110 days, Dr Guichet told me to reduce the clicks (around 0,33mm/day) when I reached 8,5 cm.

Oh, intresting. prior to that were you doing 1mm per day? or less? can you share your daily lengthening amount based on the current length at the time?

thanks and hope you recover fast

Congratulations on finishing your lenghtning!!

I have a question, How many days it took you to grow 8cm? Were you lenghtening 1mm per day until you reached 8cm?

I’d also like to know, how was yor gait at this point, and if you were able to walk without crutches.

Thanks a lot and take care!!

dam that is crazy how u got a consulated in only 3 months. it must be the weight bearing nails that made u achieve that so quick.
