Title: About infection
Post by: alwayslucky on December 04, 2021, 08:02:39 AM
Hey guys, I have a preliminary understanding of the risk of this operation. I have heard many people mention that the infection of the operation may cause some consequences, but I don't see the risk caused by infection on Dr. Paley's website. Why? Do they already have a good way to prevent infection?
In addition, I would like to ask you to tell me whether infection is well prevented in a top doctor. If not, what specific risks may be caused?

Welcome to the wonderful World of LL!!

First, you probably read his medical colourful commercials (tottaly forbidden in most countries) and not scientific and medical literature or the contract and exclusion of responsability to be signed with him).

Second the answer is simple, altough unbelievable: Dr. Paley claims there will never be any infection with him.

PS-this is not to say that he is not one of the best LL surgeons in the world.

Sorry, I forgot to adress your other concern. Generally,  with good, skilled and experienced doctors, in cooperation with the patient, infections are less frequent and easily treated.
When things get worse, a suplementary surgery may be needed.
If very very very bad luck with infection by multiresistant bacteria in a badly managed hospital and a bad doctor, things may get out of control, and then amputation may be needed. But this is theoretically, I have never heard of such a case in CLL. Infection., we all know may be lethal but It's one of the less serious dangers, in general terms, when compared to others, in CLL.
