Title: At what age do men normally stop growing?
Post by: NotTall84 on February 21, 2022, 04:41:43 PM
I hope this topic is  suitable for this section, I think it pertains to LL.

I can't seem to get an answer, though I know a definitive one probably does not exist. Maybe a ballpark age?

Some sources say 18, but I've read a few places that men can grow till they are 25.

Anyone here know? Id love if any of the medical people that may visit this site can chime in.

There is not a definitive answer since we all stop growing at a different age. But on average at around 21 years old. Some people growth a bit longer and other stop earlier.

You sure the average is that late? My bone age is 18.5 years old despite being 17, my growth plates in legs/wrist have fused, and my doctor said I'm pretty much done growing. I thought it was 16-18 for males.

Most men are 95% done growing by 18 per growth charts, but it really depends on what Tanner Stage you're in and when you entered puberty. Some people still grow substantially in college (Michael Jordan, for example, went from 5'6 to 6'5-6'6 in college); meanwhile, some people (like me) are pretty much done growing by the age of 13.

You got it right. Growth ending up on average around 21 y.o is kinda twisting the reality.

It is 16-18 for males, can confirm. I am 19 and was fortunate to have open growth plates. So those numbers are applicable to most people, but there are exceptions of course.
