I am now in my twenties. I am 1m68 and i would like to increase my height by 7cm or 8cm to 1m75-76. I feel that 7 cm is safer and i am not too comfortable with the idea of going all the way to 8cm. However, i know that humans naturally lose height as they grow old (typically 1 cm every 10 years after age 40). that means that i will slowly go back to being short as i become an old man. My question is : Does anybody know if we lose on average 1 cm every 10 years like most people or we would lose even more height because we got it via surgery ? Thank you !

What I learned years ago in school is that we loose height due to our spine compressing because of gravity and posture, a few cm at most. Your not gonna shrink 8 cm in height otherwise we would see a huge difference in height when we age which we dont.

Oh if the height loss is related to spine compressing, does that mean that we can avoid losing height by stretching and doing yoga regularly as we age ? I'll have to look it up
