Post by: Rockstarz5 on August 05, 2023, 04:48:40 PM

After years of waiting I now have the means to do LL, was considering in the USA but that was before the recall of the stryde.. Im considering betz or goitikas but not sure (betz is germany so people are more like perfectionist) and gotikas ( cheaper and it band release)  in germany no IT band but in grece one people died.. thought?… the only think is that
1) I can obly spend 6 weeks outside work
2) has the be weigth bearing nail

Sugestions?

At that price point, Birkholtz in South Africa. No weight bearing option though.

Dr Giotikas is cheaper (psychio included) and offers the same expertise (if not better), and doesn't overlengthen his patients like Betz have no problem doing. Someone did 12,5 CM ISH on his femurs a couple of weeks ago while the standard global safe maximum is 8 cm. No matter the height that can't be safe and shows that he only cares about patient pleasing and doesn't have safety as his first priority.

If your're doing this outside of the summer period the weather in Athens is also way better than somewhere in Germany, where it's always cold like here in Denmark. For some people this doesn't matter one bit, but personally living a cold climate is a burden in itself, and even more depressing if you had to do LL at the same time, wearing alot of clothes, grey weather every day etc...

Both are solid choices.

Don't bother about the weather as you won't be going outside much regardless. The energy drain from this surgery is a bitch.

6 weeks isn't enough time, do yourself a favour and give yourself a longer time period off. If that means you need a new job after, so be it.

I would suggest do more research. Choose the doctor best for your needs. Right now the main internal weight bearing nails are the one you mentioned.

How do you know Giotikas doesn't overlenghten his patients?

In an interview with Cyborg4life he stated that he tries to give the patient their desired height, but doesn't allow them to overlengthen and very rarely goes over the 8 cm just a bit with g-nail only if the patients have a tall starting height to begin with.

Where as Betz doesn't have a problem lengthening many of his patients much over the safety standard of 8 cm. One patient here did 12,3 cm on their femurs!!! That dramatically increase the possibility of complications.... Just do yourself a favor and at least stop at 8 cm if you go with him. Only he and LivelifeTaller thinks that is okay lol.

Reality is both Betzbone and Gnail are internal clicking nails, thus neither doctor has the power to enforce you stopping lengthening, Betz is just realistic about this. If the patient wants to click and lengthen more, they can (and often will) regardless of what the doctor says.

What if accidental clicking keeps happening in the consilidation fase with Gnail or betzbone?

Just doesn't happen, once the bone is reasonably consolidated it becomes impossible to click further. Accidental clicks only happen like up to 2 weeks in, after that it's a non-issue.

ITB Release is available for Betz nail.
You should inform the doctor that you want ITB to release.

Correct, but in some diaries people complain that they do IT band with betz, but still not a complete or a correct release and have to go back to surgery and even charge for it… so not sure about IT band with betz
