Title: Tibia or Femur?
Post by: Joe Biden on September 09, 2023, 06:22:01 AM
Is it true that femur is easier as a surgery and faster to recover plus you can have 8 cm?
Trying to understand which one is better.
Planning to do surgery with weight bearing device

Femur is better every single way. They heal quicker, you gain more height, less complication rate etc.

It should also be noted that malalignment is more likely to occur in the tibia than in the femur, as discussed in this topic.

It's widely known femurs, specially with nails have the best results in terms of healing/height gains and lower porcentage complications rates. The drawback its cost, that's why IMO tibia's external methods exists to offer a cheaper solution but with quite a bit more risk involved.

I will highly suggest if you have the money go for femur/nails. That's a no brainer BUT if you are tight go to a reputable Dr. Who can do LON on tibias.

Ive chosen to go for tibias for 1 reason: aesthetics. Now this is still up for the debate, but I think long femurs look out of proportion. Your knees just hang extremely low, and its noticeable when you run or walk fast. Nowadays everybody is expecting long tibias, the society had taught us that. As for the femurs, you can either go low (like 5cm) and do high bar squats like crazy, or go for quad surgery. There are 2 camps here that preach different strategies: heightmaxxing (get as many of those cms as you can) and proportionmaxxing (get some cms, but keep looking like a human). The decision which is the correct one is up to you, as always.

Don't see any problem at all to do femurs for 8-9 cm and then wear 5 cm insoles in the shoes, there will be NO disproportions and your height will be 14CM UP!

Problem with insoles is that you cant wear them everywhere. Its still a good idea to wear them, but at some point in life you will be forced to take them off. If that wasnt the case we all would wear 5cm heels + 5 cm insoles, but at the moment you take them of you are losing your head, figuratively and realistically. The bad thing about this surgery is that your body needs to convey proper appearances at all times. The moment someone sniffs out that something is off, worst case scenerio you become "the LL guy" in the circle, thus ostracizing you forever.

Don’t be dumb. Just do femurs. Tibias are way worse than femurs and you’ll get less height out of it.

that's not a problem at all LOL! most of the time you wear shoes everywhere, there are flip flops that can give you 3-5 cm that will level the size of your femurs to tibias, there are no problems at all. That's ridiculous, you people want to gain height or care about your proportions? LOLLL

haha, most of the people in the world don't even know about these surgeries, i'm surprised how many crazy paranoid people are sitting on this forum. if you care what others think then you have tons of problems and LL will probably will not change your life.
Femurs 9cm plus insoles 5 cm - 14cm of height gain is the best scenario and might be the safest. that's it!
