I'm about 168cm from UK. I wore lifts+sport shoes in university that gave me 1.2 inch (so people think I am 170-171), then wore lifts + thick soled shoes that gave me 2.2 inch (so people estimate I am 173). I have never worn shorts around people (for 4 years now), so my ankles have never been revealed. I'm planning to do:
- 0.3 inch more of lifts before surgery
- 4.5cm of lengthening (Yes, I am contented this life being 5'8, I do not need the full 5 and I think that is too obvious)
- Swap to barefoot shoes ONLY after surgery (3mm soles)
- I have met some university friends after university, but when I met them, I was already using 2 inch lifts, they never noticed my height increase as it was gradual.
- My work friends have only ever seen me in 2 inch lifts
- I won't optimize my posture for height
- If people ask, I will say I corrected forward head posture, slouched shoulders and lumbar curvature (I did have these things to some extent)
Do you think I can hide it?

For clarification, I moved to the US to work right after university, and am returning to UK. Hence, most of my social circle in the UK has not seen me for 4 years. Do you think I can hide it from them?

Dude this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. The whole point of this surgery is for it to be noticeable. You're basically paying upwards of $50K just so you can stop wearing lifts. Just do the full 8cm and stop worrying about what other people think. You're a grown man.

4.5 cm would be easy to hide. Just reduce or remove lifts. They probably never noticed the lifts and won't notice them gone.

I agree with GrowGrow123 on this one. People will either judge you for being short or judge you for doing the surgery. Besides only people who know you from before will probably could tell that your're taller.

as some one who did 8cm femurs just 4 years ago I do feel like people notice when I'm at the gym and obviously my peers/ acquaintances noticed my height increase, and though I never told them, they know I probably had a surgery to increase my height.
with that said sometimes I do wish I had done less of an increase 1) to keep better proportions 2) this does throw off your biomechanics, so if you want to still be decent at any sport you enjoy, either don't do it, or be very conservative with your increase.
at 4.5 cm it's a very nice goal, but then again ... it's just a bit taller than you currently are. you sure you can't live happy at your current height?

How much do you wish you had done? Any issues with soft tissue tightness at 8cm?

No offense, but this sounds like you have other issues. Unless you're a hot chick wearing booty shorts, no one is paying attention to you at the gym, I can almost guarantee it. It's all in your head. An insecurity.

so that's what I thought. we lose a lot of athletic capacity between 4.5 and 8 cm. the limit is therefore between the two perhaps 6 cm.

I did 7 cm around a year ago, noone have mentioned anything to me except peope, saying that i lost weight and such nothing about height
only family have noticed but then only for copule of days then they have not spoken about the whole thing
so I'd say people are not that concious about height as we really believe they are , everyone is caugh up on his/her problems.

It really depends. The people who were the same height as me before immediately noticed I was taller because they were all of a sudden significantly shorter.
My grandparents who were in their 80's and who I see like once a year, immediately said I looked really tall. Which in all my years they've never said about me. But they chalked it up to them just getting shorter / poor memory since they're so old lol.

The consensus seems to be that you can just get by hiding 3CM with an excuse. 5CM you are absolutely not hiding. Im hearing stories of people trying to hide 5CM and failing presently. 4.5CM is going to be noticeable. Your family and close friends will 100% notice you are taller. People are very fine tuned in sizing others up and noticing changes, its in our DNA. So just be prepared for that.

OP I just did 5.2 on tibias, while some people that something is off, they will attribute it to some external factors. If you gain 5cm height, stop wearing lifts and shorten your hair. Gradually comeback to your lifts over the course of the next year. 5cm is the heel of a new shoe, or standing hairs, its easier than you think. I believe I have managed to fool my peeps, but who knows, Ill keep you posted.

For those that have known you before the surgery, you won't be able to hide from them. Although, those people that are not very close to you will mostly likely not say anything. You have to realize that people are not stupid (well most people are not). But you will be able to hide from most of the new people that you meet after the surgery. However, some people are very observant. They are just born with it. Like they may see your scars and ask you where you got those scars? If you don't want to say limb lengthening, say that you got a leg surgery. Technically, saying you got a leg surgery is not lying.

Wondering the same, ¿could you hide a 8-10cm? Personally I dont care as long I finish the proces withou complications, my plan is to Im going to spend a month in europe, that came to 3-4. Back and of course they would ask and of course I would tell them once is all done, no before (just family) and friends well I would tell them I lose weight and probably they are hight if they see me different

there is no way in hell you can hide 8 centimeters. 5 centimeters is pushing it. Consider that lifts and shoes are able to add up to 5 cm, however 8 cm is already half a head higher then you usually were. I do consider going for another 5cm after a while, after people will get used to my new height.

tiktok made if famous bro, everyone will suspect. So just give another BS answer like you had leg length discrepency so you had surgery to fix it, and it gave you a couple inches in height as well by straightening your spine and lengthening your shorter leg.
