ive develop a nerve pain on my right leg. im currently doing ilizarov on my tibias. im at 4.5 cm and my nerve pain comes when im laying flat on my bed. my right leg starts burning up. ive develop this on my left side and it went away during time. right now my physical therapist says that i need to tighten my heel shoe. Pt also bend my foot and it relieves alot of pain. im lengthening about 1mm a day. my frame removal is coming this saturday. im afraid of doing it and my leg starts to burn while i lay there with anesthesia. any suggestions? my pt says when i remove the frame all the nerve pain will go away . im not sure about that. my heel shoe currently is helping alot and i have it on 24/7 ima have different pain after i bet.

The elongation should be urgently reduced by 0.75 mm or even 0.5 mm per day. It's completely normal if you do 1 mm per day. who is your doctor?

My doctor is Dr doan . Ive hired a pt so I been lengthening
With 1 mm.

With 1mm per day at about 4-5cm, it is expected to develop nerve pain. In most cases, it goes away some time after frame removal. That is what I have seen. But, I would suggest not to risk nerve damage and immediately reduce the lengthening rate to 0.75 or even 0.5mm

I will take ur guys advice and go for .75 mm a day. Will probably extend my day. Was planning to go home early too.

For my nerve pain issues in tibial regions, alpha lipoic acid (ALA) helped immensely. Took them first thing in the morning. Started off on 400mg for two weeks, then moved to 600mg for two weeks and then took 1000mg for 4 weeks. Nerve pain tapered off by week 3. I stayed on these throughout lengthening stage then moved on to TB 4 frag max. Hope your pain goes away.

oh dam i wish i can go walgreens right now and buy that. im taking gabapentin after a few research. im using an icepack on the burning part of my foot. which helps alot i can lay down straight. did a 20 min bike ride. my pt says when i leave my leg hanging down from my bed it relieves the veins in my leg and helps alot, the burning goes away.

I just got an exray and really lengthening at .085 mm a day. So that sucks. Lost like 5 days this month thinking it was 1mm

They are giving me alot of b6 and magnesium and methlycobal and gabapentin. I should be taking at least 3 gabapentin pills but they are giving me 2 pills At 300mg each. Will probably go with the surgery even with the pain. Hopefully I don't get much pain and get amnesia at the same time. It's only when I'm laying down with my legs straight I get a burning sensation.

I would recommend considering stopping the lengthening process once you reach 4 cm on your tibia. A skilled doctor typically advises against exceeding this threshold to avoid potential complications with soft tissues. It's important to prioritize your overall well-being, not just the height.

ive finished my lengthening already at 5.5cm but ive talked to my neighbor and he also had burning nerve pain at 5cm. he finished at 8cm. so he kept at it. hes fine now walking unassisted. im still on a walker. the thing is the nerve tingling is still there after frame removal but nothing to worry about. i just wonder how other patients and doctor deal with burning sensation because every body is lengthening at 7cm tibias nowadays. feels like its a hidden secret or something..
