Title: Which method is safer: Internal Nail for femurs VS External Frames for tibias
Post by: Shana on April 02, 2024, 01:23:24 AM
I did some research on the safest method for LL. Based on what I found, the safest way to lengthen the tibia is through external frames. However, when it comes to both femurs and tibias, I would like to know which method is safer: internal nail for femurs or external frames for tibias?

Internals have much less chance of infection.

Femurs (compared to tibias) have many more blood vessels, thus healing is much quicker. Furthermore, in femurs you only break 1 bone per leg, compared to tibias that breaks 2 bones per leg.
