I bear in mind "The longer your bone length is,the more you can lengthen".But recently I emailed to Dr.Betz,and he avered its none of bone length's business,it depends on your flexibility because lengthening your bone can't be a hard work but your lengthening your soft issue and nerve can.
So here is the problem:What predestines the length we can approach to?
Personally I still think the bone length is the master of surgery result.

Bone length is generally considered as a major factor because lengthening is a proportional matter, meaning that roughly one can lengthen a segment up to 20% of its bone. For example, if your femur is 40 cm, you may lengthen it up to 8 cm, while if someone has 30cm of femur, he/she can lengthen it 6cm at max. Of course, this is a super simplified perspective. However, it is sort of true because different sizes of bone mean that they also have different sizes of tissues like muscle. So if one who has 30cm of femur tries to lengthen femur to 8 cm, he/she will have to lengthen more proportion of tissues, as compared to one who has 40cm of femur. It is a simple math problem.
However, people are very different. Some people are more flexible than others. Some people are recovering faster than others. Generally speaking, young people are better than old ones. Female is better than male. You are young so I am sure you can recover quite well. However, flexibility is hard to achieve. Most of people have similar flexibility in my opinion unless you are ballerina or athletics. So don't really think that my flexibility is so good so I can lengthen much more than others. So you need to have a realistic goal. Once you start lengthening, you will realize how it feels.

Thx for your demonstration.My score of sit-and-reach is 30cm.I dunno whether that means I have a good flexibility.I didn't practice it on purpose before.It's just born with me.

You may be right. I am not 100% for sure about this. But overall it is thought that females are more flexible than males. When I was in hospital, I saw many male and female patients. I feel female patients seem to do better, although there were some female patients who struggled with lengthening. But anyway, don't take this sentence as a scientific evidence or proof. It is just my thought.

From what I've seen (on the forums), males have better bone growth (less non unions), while females have better soft tissue growth (because they have more flexibility).

That is also possible. It is believed that males have stronger bones or better bone growth, and many females suffer from osteoporosis more frequently than males.

Seriously I practiced my flexibility the other days(Sorry I haven't borrowed this forum for so long because I'm busy with study those days) and I can easily palm on the floor with sneakers and move without any tension pain.So I think I'm likely to be more flexible than the average.I dunno what a good flexbility means.

That's something that's generally true, but not always the case. My surgeon has seen patients of average height start getting ballerina foot after only a couple cm of lengthening and short patients that didn't start showing risk of ballerina until over 5 cm. It seems dependent on individual genetics more than anything else.
