Title: LL and Sunlight
Post by: mediocre on February 01, 2014, 12:07:08 AM
Anybody of the LLers make sunlight exposure part of their regular source of Vitamin D?

This is very natural IMO as compared to supplements.

I seem to remember a few diaries where the patient would sit outside for a while just to get sunlight. I know Craig49 did that when he had his lengthening under Dr. Mirzoyan in Armenia.

Did the doctors actually advise it?

I recently had a foot fracture (2 fractures actually) and my Ortho didn't even mention it.

Sunlight is a natural source of vitamin D. Without it, we'd develop rickets.

I don't believe it would help speed up consolidation or heal fractures, but we'll need for strong bones seeing as we're making them longer and possible more prone to breakages. It just gives them more strength.

I take 3000IU of vitamin D3, plus whatever else is in my calcium tablet, but I'm gonna start sun bathing when it warms up a bit. I think the natural synthesis is probably superior to synthetic forms.
