Title: Moderator Nomination Thread
Post by: KiloKAHN on November 10, 2016, 08:44:38 PM
Due to the increased activity of the forum, the site moderators are looking to add two additional moderators to the team in order to keep it running smoothly. The role of the mods will be to ensure that site rules are enforced, which would include removing posts that fall under commercial spam or harassment. Being a moderator is entirely voluntary, so we are seeking trustworthy users with good intentions. Replies to this topic will be for the purpose of nominating additional moderators you think would be a good fit.

Nominations
You can nominate 2 users to be moderators (including yourself) and can include your reasoning in your post if you would like.
Example: I nominate X and Y to be added to the mod team (Optional: Because...)

The users with the most nominations will be contacted later to confirm their candidacy. If they decline, then they will not be included in the final round of voting between nominated candidates.

Nominations will be open for 5 days after today's date.

Note: We are only counting nominations from users who have a post count above 30.

Current Moderators: KiloKAHN, Medium Drink of Water, TRS
Active Moderators: KiloKAHN, TRS
New Moderators: To Be Determined

30 posts? Imho a bit low lol.

I will nominate Penguinn.

Neutral, active and with his own LL experience. Probably everything you need.

I would like to nominate -

Unicorn - because she has been active and had experienced fair share of complications. So I think she has lot to offer.
Sweden - because he's brutally honest and responds to most of the diaries, especially when someone is doing something foolish.
Iamready - He's the only one, I know of, who did quadrilateral lengthening. So I think he brings a lot of experience to the table.

I would say:

- Penguinn for sure: active, with LL experience, and seems to be a mature guy (despite being young). He lives in India, so he can be active during some hours in which other moderators (i guess based in the US/Europe) would probably be inactive.

- I'm not sure about the other one. Probably between KrP1 and Alu, but I might be forgetting someone.

I will nominate Penguinn.

Penguin sounds like a good idea but shouldn't we first make a list with the available users for the job?

I'd nominate Tibike since he's pretty active and I think he would do a good job. I also want to nominate LLcaptain, to keep LLuser away

Penguin - very active -  will keep a vigilant watch on the forum

Sweden - experience -  active -  knowledge

Stripes - experience - knowledge - not sure if he'd want to do this though.

Guys it's not about the experience of LL that should give someone Moderator status. That doesn't equal judgment or decision making when it comes to how the forums should operate. So people like DIFM and Iamready, I doubt would be interested in this since I'm sure their time on the forum is largely based on simply telling their story until they feel capable enough to return to normal life and then move on. But I'll let them answer that.

(Like wise, my own game plan/endgame has been to hear these guys' stories and then move on.)

So far from my mind, yes Penguin is probably the best candidate for it.

I would like to nominate programdude and yellowspike, if they're interested

also support penguin and iamready, who were already mentioned

having gone through LL myself, I think there's a noticeable difference in the quality of information posted between those with LL experience and those without. members who haven't gone through LL sometimes have no idea what they're talking about (not always though). a mod who's done LL would be much better

respectfully, I would be against both of them. tibike doesn't have LL experience (see point above) and had some fake account fiasco around him. LLcaptain was recently banned. 100% integrity of the mods is soooo important to this great forum

I'll nominate NoRegrets and IamReady.

It's better if a mod has done LL but imo, it's not as important as keeping cool and doing dat mod work.

I can understand that point, it's a good one to make. But, considering the recent barrage of trolling that's gone on, and just the toxic nature of this place, you really really have to want to stay here. And I feel like most people just want to get through LL, share about, and move on and never look back.

Ultimately, what I'd consider in a Mod is someone who can see through that BS and, make it a priority to check the forum, and take needed action. That has nothing to do with LL. That's just my response to how bad some trolling has become recently is all.

That's why i mentioned LL experience as a last thing.

The most important things are being neutral and active, LL won't change your sense of judge.

So please, think about how your candidate thinks and how active he is rather than focusing purely on his LL experience.

A good moderator doesnt need to be post LL patient... Just need to be someone who wont tolerate trolling, lying, harrasment, and pubblicity stunts from zero class doctors that's all... A moderator just need to keep the forum in order...

Make votes and let us choose. Put names of the active ones including me lol, and we could choose the best candidate, the one who enter daily and read everything in the forum. Good luck

A poll could very easily be rigged. People making accounts etc.

So putting 10 most active users and vote. Any new register will not count

What if there was an age requirement Kaiser. Would you tell your age then? ;)

agreed. need to prevent something like this from happening if there's a vote. way too many troll accounts appearing recently

Voting should be done the same way nomination is, by typing the name. There could be a minimum post requirement for voters to prevent trolls.

See there's a reason Penguin should be a mod: he's pragmatic.

I think the majority agree Penguin as he is very active, seems very smart and is going through LL. Sweden as he is very knowledgeable and has gone through LL and has the attitude to not back down from trolls.

It would be an absolute honor to be bestowed with the privilege of moderator. I can be the Trump-esque candidate for this forum.
