If you're human and you can read this, perhaps you've noticed the influx of spam these days.

Just a few suggestions for anyone listening who has the power to make or suggest some changes.

• reCAPTCHA for SMF (https://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1044): improved captcha during registration
• Akismet Spam Protection for SMF (https://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=544): prevents spam posts if spammer managed to register
• Anti-Spam Links (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2404): requires users to meet a certain post count threshold before linking to external sites
• SSL (https://letsencrypt.org/) (HTTPS): it's $40/yr on this forum's host (https://kb.asmallorange.com/customer/portal/articles/1603659-install-an-ssl-certificate), but you can use this guide (https://www.naraeon.net/en/install-lets-encrypt-shared-hosting/) to do it for free even on a shared host
• Enable "Report to moderator" in the forum's settings so that individual posts can be flagged
• Bonus: how about a responsive theme (https://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=2900)? Pretty URLs (https://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=636)?

Yea, what happened to SSL? The forum is now insecure. Asking people who care about their privacy to log in over plain HTTP is outright dangerous. Their ISP can read not just their posts, but their username and password. If you go to an Internet cafe and log in, they have your user/pass.

Who is managing this forum again?

I think this forum is really being neglected. No SSL, troll posts everywhere, it's a shame really (
