Devices Used
STRYDE, PRECICE, Lengthening over Nail (LON), Lengthening and Then Nailing (LATN).
Preferred and recommended method for CLL: Stryde and/or Precice
Recommended segments for lengthening: Femurs- faster recovery (vs tibias), less pain, less complications, and less cost.
*Can perform 4 segment lengthening by doing tibias first, then femurs 3-4 weeks later to gain the most height overall.

The first step in the process is to determine if the Limb Lengthening procedure is right for you. To do this you will need to set up a consultation so that you can be properly evaluated. During the consultation, Dr. M will examine you and take x-rays of your legs. At that time you will be given all the necessary information including costs, duration and treatment options. You will be able to perform the distraction in the comfort of your own home. You will also not be completely wheelchair bound and will be able to stand and take a few steps for transfers. The recovery time is from 3-4 months before you can walk without any assistance and 6-8 months for competitive sports.

COST
Bilateral femur lengthening (Precice nail): $65,500.00
Bilateral tibia lengthening (Precice nail): $75,000.00
Combined tibia and femur lengthening (3-4 weeks apart): $139,000.00
*Upgrade to the full weight bearing STRYDE nail for $5,000 more
**$750 consultation fee can be applied towards your surgery cost.

According to Dr M's office, the prices listed in the OP are the most current for 2019. All other prices listed in Dr M's previous threads should be disregarded.

Does this doctor mostly CLL surgeries or does he also do other trauma surgeries? I am very pleased to see the volume of CLL cases he does, but I hope he does more complicated stuff too. That is a major source of worry for me.

Does anyone live in the area know about his reputation in the area? Many affluent people live in the area and it would be a testament to his skills if he is considered a GOTO option for general deformity correction also.

On his yelp reviews I saw some trauma patients etc so yeah he does, go view them,
but he heavily advertises CLL too

Had my consultation with Dr. M. An assistant took me in and measured me. I was shorter than I thought. I think I lost some length around the spine from being on the computer (I was doing a lot of hanging back then too) or maybe I was measured wrong back in high school. Anyway, it was a little disappointing but back to the process.

So they took me into the room and Dr. M came in. First impression is that he is a cool, confident guy. He asked my reasons for doing it and I told him basically I've been mocked since I was child about it. He wasn't too interested in the details after that. I think he's seen the same case hundreds of times by now. I told him about the forums and he encouraged me to keep a diary so that's a positive sign.

We talked a little and he checked my flexibility. He determined I have tight hip flexors and hamstrings. I already knew and I've been stretching and strengthening since I made the appointment (about two weeks ago).

Then they took x rays of my legs. It seems like my legs have more curvature than normal, but the curved section can be taken care of by making that the area they cut to make the gap.

I asked him a bunch of questions: How many cases? - Hundreds. How many complications -About 5% Any long term complications -No. How long with the walker/need assistance at home? -2-3 weeks.

Esme came in from the finance end of things and gave me the proposal: its 76k and doctor's cut is 30k. So yes its very expensive. I'm going to revisit my financial situation at the end of this year.  If I am in fact in the position to do it, I will do it probably around April/May of 2021.

Alright that's all I have to report for now. Hope this helps someone :)

Dr Shahab Mahboubian is one of the best choice for precice method LL surgeries. If you're financially secure, don't even think twice.
