Title: Mock-up opinions: 5'6.5" to 5'9" (Bilateral Femurs + Tibia)
Post by: ThickButt on August 09, 2019, 08:18:56 AM
What's up LL Forum!

I'm considering doing LL with Mahboubian in the next 2-3 years. My current stats are:
1. Height: 5'6.5" flat footed
2. Wingspan: approximately 5'10.5"
3. Sitting height: approximately 34"
4. Inseam: 30-32 inches (US)

My goal height is: 5'9" flat footed. I always wear sneakers, so I'll effectively be 5'10" to 5'10.5". I plan to lengthen
Femur: 1.25 inches
Tibia: 1.25 inches

My main concern is that I feel my torso is short + small. I have a short torso and a smaller upper body, so I'm worried that lengthening will further exaggerate the discrepancy and I'll look like I'm walking on stilts. I made a mock-up showing various angles and clothing. Am I still within "normal" range if I lengthen to 2.5 inches?

Note: I know it may seem wasteful to do so little on each segment, but I'm chiefly concerned with three things:
1. Retaining as much of my athleticism as possible (I run a lot, so I'd like equal lengthening to maintain current locomotion)
2. Keeping within "normal proportions"
3. Keeping recovery times as short as possible

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I think, you have a good wingspan and wide shoulders, so you will look good both in clothes and without it. The only thing I don’t know how good you will look with a tucked shirt

I personally think it would make more sense to calculate the amount you need on each segment to get to the ideal 0.8 tibia:femur ratio.

Like if you were to set up a proportion, do:

(tibia + x inches) / (femur + (2.5-x)) = 0.8, so you know how much of the 2.5 inches to give to each segment.

Hey man love that your name is thick butt, because I too am 5'6 and have one as well.

I want to suggest you think about going for 3 inches in the femurs, rather than 1.5 inches in each segment. This is what I'm planning to do.... and my thought is if 5'9 isn't enough... you can always go back and do an extra 5cm in the tibia's. I don't want to direct your plans but using stryde on femurs is literally the way to go in respect to safety... and since we aren't super short as is I think it's possible one go around could solve all our neurosis at 5'9.

Looking at your mock ups it seems that you already have slightly long tibias.

I would suggest to simply do about 7 cm in femurs and yes your torso will look a bit short but as you have good wing span it wont be so noticeable, apart from when you will have your shirt tucked in.

Goodluck.

too much risk for 2 surgeries especially on you tibs.
Just go with 2.5-3 inches on your femurs man

It's reasonable to say one is 5'9'' at 174. Nonetheless, his statement is still nonsense. Even if OP would still feel short at that target height, it'd be an improvement over his starting height. If a medicine reduces your pain level to 50%, you don't stop taking it because it doesn't reduce your pain to 0%. Furthermore, on the internet, any idiot can say X height is short. There are people who have said 5'11'' and 6 feet are short nowadays, and there's enough reasons to ignore such statements.
