Is it safer to lengthen the Femur?
(I know nothing is safe, but just asking from technical perspective of the surgery). How much lengthening do you recommend? I'm going Turkey and doing LON Method for 15$K. (I'M 161cm)

8cm is fine for lengthening the femur. I believe that 5cm is the safe limit for tibia's.

lengthen 6.5 cm or 6cm and be done.
but dont do external on femur. its suicide.
only internal nail.

Turkish doctors says:
Tibia 7-8 cm no problem lon method.
How?

So, what do you think of both the internal nail and the external method? (LON)

LON is apparently the most chosen one. However i would do LON 7cm on femur and 5cm on tibia max if u wanna return back to normal
-
I dont think you will ever be back to normal if you do 10+cm.
-
LON + femur stupid idea. You don't wanna have rods through one of your strongest muscles.

How so ?
LON method only fixed nails and external support device.
What is the difference?
-
femur has big and strong muscles all around the bone compared to tibia.

So better with "LON" for tibia?
-
Yes, however nail in tibia usually leads to lifetime knee pain.
tbh LON sucks, by complications you can't do any corrections, it only moves in one way.
Best choice if possible:
femur internals
tibia externals

tibia externals -> What is external method ? ilizarov ?
I did not understand.
There are two nails.
1. Fixed nails
2. Moving nails
In the LON method, an external device is mounted on leg. This device for lift the weight of the body. And lengthening of 1 mm each day. (patient do manually)
In the past, moving nails cannot walk during the procedure. These nails were then developed and updated to lift the weight of the body.
Both have nails. The differences are moving and not moving.
on outer leg inflammation etc. complications. with LON method.
(screws in the leg)
