Like most people my main concern is recovery. I heard that asian females have slower bone growth - does this mean that I could distract quite slowly, thus keeping the damage to my soft tissues to a minimum?

Yes. In fact you must, or you'll have non-union. The standard starting distraction rate at the Beijing clinic was .67mm per day and some people with slow bone growth were told to do less than that.

wow, that might actually work in my favour then from a recovery point of view. thanks for answering, it's good to have your input.

Is this absolutely true (that asian females distract at a slower rate)? Is it mostly anecdotal, or are there literature on the subject?
