Post by: Kal el on August 30, 2020, 08:36:51 PM
Guys can u plz tell me if 109cm legs would be too much for a 181 cm overall height.

bro thats like over 60% leg to total height ratio
thats WAY too much even 99cm legs on a 181cm frame is pushing it
not to mention biomechanically your center of gravity will be ruined

54.7% is pushing it? I'm naturally 56.6% and apparently look fine visually at a 59% mockup although that's the absolute max

are you sure you're measuring your legs properly? or are you using the length to waistline?

i had a look at your 13cm on and tbh honest bro it looked weird

Yes, hip. The 13 looks weird but the 10 doesn't that much even factoring in shoes. I posted the +10 on an incel forum waiting to be roasted and thinking if someone would notice, not a single soul commented on the leg to body ratio

revisiting your mock up
even the 8 i would say was pushing it

Oh yeah that I took that from a lower level actually

No, he sent me a picture recently and he looked very good. It's slightly pushing but it's as "He's long legged." type of pushing. Not like, "Damn, he has a short af torso." kinda pushing.

given that the avg sitting height to is roughly 0.52
https://adc.bmj.com/content/90/8/807

at your current sitting height you are already 0.515 (87/169)
if you add 10 cm you get to about 0.486 (87/179)

You can stoop to 0.49 without no problem. 0.50 is ok. 0.51 is excellent. But it's not such a big deal though. I have a SH of 90cm, which i'll stretch and probably have around 91cms. And my ratio would be 0.491. Keep it in mind that I'm skinny without any fat mass on my butt.

edit: If i go to gym and kinda bulk up, it'll probably add another 1cms at least. My ratio would be 0.497, I'f im lucky enough to get the other 0.5 from somewhere else like stretching or maybe bulking gives me 1.5 instead of 1, i'd have the 0.50 ratio which is not even necessary to think about.

It would be interesting to see what MyEvolution looks like

i would say between 0.5-0.52 aiming closer to  0.50 would be more aesthetic, but once you move into .49 territory it starts to look off

It doesn't tbh, nobody will seriously notice your sitting height LOL!
just by 1cm, you might get into the 0.49 zone or 0.50. just 1 or 1.5 cm. Who would even argue about it irl? Nobody for real.

I mean, I'm sort of a proportion freak but even I've started not to give a damn about SH if you don't have it around 85cm or anything. Above 90cms is good for 180-185 range.

Best to judge visually by seeing patients who did specific amounts with specific stats, getting fixated on a ratio like 0.5 is lame unless you actually have a feel of what it actually looks like. I once sat on a flat staircase with a guy who was 174 cm who was actually comfortably shorter than me even with reasonable posture, it didn't strike me as looking weird, meanwhile I also know a guy who is 5'1" taller than me sitting, SH has a lot of variation.

i use sitting height because it is easier to  measure sitting height without xrays. because measuring leg length is too innacurate without xrays

Measuring sitting height is virtually always inaccurate unless you have a stadiometer from my own experience but turns out even the stadiometer I have has an error of few mm so I'm not even sure of my sitting heigh

sure but its typically MORE accurate than trying to measure you limbs

Easier but room for error is far too high. Dude I started out thinking I had something like an 83 cm siting height. Measuring from your hip line is really the easiest.

Well, you are right but sitting height is not CERTAIN!

The amount of fat mass increases your sitting height!
Sitting height is only accurate for people who are skinny like me! I've 90cm of sitting height while being skinny af which I can even get few more cms.

I just measured, if i stretch my legs forwards and measure it, 90cm
If i sit cross-legged (without sitting on my feet) it's around 91.5-92 cm.

and the time is 02.42. I think it might be even more in the morning by 0.5 cms.

My SH measuring history

81 cm very stupidly measuring on the bed for the first time with a ruler in the air
83 cm on the floor trying to sit straight
84 cm on a flat surface with a can which wasn't long enough so it could affect posture, sometimes 85
86 cm on another flat surface with a good can
Between 87-88 something under a stadiometer on an ideal surface table but not ideal leg positioning, over 88 cm earlier in the day
86 cm under the same stadiometer on a different flat surface but it curbed my posture
89-90 cm looking into a mirror with a tape measure
But this stadiometer is kinda bumpy

Just lol

I'll check both my height and SH accurately later when I buy the super accurate and sturdy seca 213 stadiometer

My SH can possibly change because I'm like 130 lbs with very little muscle mass

except measuring from the umbillicus would leave an even more inaccurate measurment
for a proper leglength you would need to measure ground to greater trochanter on the femur ( for proper femur length itslateral malleolus to G. trochanter)
and the greater trochanter is much harder to palpate to get  an accurate reading

I would only rely on sitting height when measured under a stadiometer under ideal conditions

this sounds more like issues with  your standiometer than the act of measuring sitting height

It has a few mms of error which isn't a whole lot exactly, I'm talking about other ways of self measuring - wildly fluctuating.

i agree im saying that getting a proper measurement of leg length provides even greater discrepancies
measuring to hipline in itself is not a true measure of limb length
