It's a common perception that if our parents are short, then it's a good reason for us to be short.
However, I can tell you that the typical guys in my country. Mother short. Father short/average. Daughter short/average. But sons tall/much taller.
Regardless of how short the mother is, they will most of the time end up towering their father and their sisters.
Here is a good example.
Short sister, brothers tall, short father. (The mother has recently passed away so I'm not sure how tall she was. But chances are shorter than the father)

This is not an anomaly, but more like a norm here. I'm much more of an anomaly by ending up so short even though my father and sister are much much taller than these guys'.
